Feeling Special

Standard

When I arrived home from Hawaii this gorgeous page, along with a certificate and a beautiful let, was waiting for me.  I feel very special to be recognised as one of the top sellers in Close To My Heart Australia for 2014.  I love the very personal touch of this recognition – the fact someone in Head office took the time to create this page just for me is lovely.

Great Job! – Uni Graduation

Standard

Mike and I were so very proud of our daughter the night she graduated from the University of Western Australia.  She is a beautiful person inside and out and we hope she fulfils her dream to help the lives of those less fortunate than her.

Feb blogs 8x4 - Page 003

This page was a joy to make.  I knew the Great Job Stamp Set (C1588) was perfect.  It’s lovely swirls just feel like a celebration.  I wanted the left hand page to be all about Kathryn so chose just one photo to include on it.  Our ‘proud parents’ shots had to go on the facing page.  The rosette, graduation cap and ‘Congrats’ stamp come from the Kudos stamp set which you get with the Artiste Cricut Collection.  A few Puffies stickers from the Chalk It Up Assortment finished off the page.

Feb blogs 8x4 - Page 004

I used some of the words from the ‘You’re the Bomb’ Stamp Set (C1617) within my journaling.  I like having fun this way.  It makes the story part of the design of the page.

This Great Job stamp set is included in the Gold registration for our Operation Smile fundraiser on March 7.  I’ll have 4 more layouts to show everyone on the day.

Hopscotch Happy Birthday

Standard

This fun layout came from page 36 of the Reflections How To Book.  I love that the layouts in this book have very simple designs you can dress up.

Feb blogs 8x4 - Page 002

The Outdoor Denim strips have been scored using the Scoreboard and then sanded to expose a little of the white core.  This adds great texture.  The Hopscotch papers were perfect for my photos and the little concentric circles stamp from the WOTG kit added a nice accent to my Colonial White circles behind the title. How pretty does the NEW Blue Shimmer Trim look – I toned it down with a few strands of twine over it… bit less girlie that way.

Feb blogs - Page 003

The book described how to turn plain cardstock circles into shiny buttons!  Simply add some holes with the piecing tool, separate some Thick Twine into strands for the thread and then add Liquid Glass.  So simple and so effective.

Capture the Day Butterfly Card

Standard

Here’s a quick card to make.  It took me less than 15 minutes to create it.  I used the Capture the Day Stamp Set (A1165)

Feb blogs - Page 006

Begin by creating a circular mask from a Post-It Note

Feb blogs - Page 004

Next, stamp lots of butterflies in 3 different colours around and over the mask.  Stamp one extra butterfly on some scrap paper and cut this out.  Use your daubers to ‘colour’ this single butterfly.

Feb blogs - Page 005

Remove the mask and add the sentiment and finish off with the single butterfly mounted on foam tape.  Add a mount of patterned paper before placing on the front of your card.

This little stamp set is included in the Silver registration for our Operation Smile fundraiser on March 7.  I’ll have 9 more cards to show everyone on the day.

Mr and Mrs

Standard

I am so happy with the way these pages turned out.  I have loved using the Heartstrings Papers and these were the last scraps left in the pack!  I think that is one of the greatest joys of using CTMH paper packs… I actually USE it all and don’t have to store it.  I usually make 8-12 pages from one pack if I add in some extra card for page bases or, as in this case, work directly on a CM album page.

Feb blogs 8x4 - Page 001

The flowers are all from this month’s Stamp of the Month, A Happy Hello.  Some were stamped directly to the page and others were fussy cut.  If you have circle punches you could use those too.

I cut the title using my Cricut and then added Liquid Glass to make it pop.

A happy Hello is available for purchase during February 2015 only.  It retails for $27 but you can have yours for just $5 when it is accompanied by a $75 order.

I had quite a bit to write for these photos so I made the journal box a bit special.  I used the Scallop Border Punch along the top and daubed ink around the edges.  The lines and arrow heads were stamped using the Year Noted Stamp Set that was January’s promotion.  I can’t tell you how helpful those little dotted lines are!

Post or D-Ring? What’s right for you?

Standard

Do you have a project coming up that needs a new album?  Look at these gorgeous choices you now have with Close To My Heart.

CTMH Canvas Coated albums are a safe home for your photos

CTMH Canvas Coated albums are a safe home for your photos

Some key points:

  • Albums  display your beautiful pages and protect your photos.
  • You have a choice of three colours/patterns: Lagoon Chevron, Ruby floral and black
  • All colours and patterns are available in post-bound and D-ring
  • The fabric covers are coated to allow for durability and they can easily be wiped clean with a damp cloth
  • The album structure has been reinforced for durability (CTMH have NEVER had an album as strong as these)
  • Fits CTMH memory protectors perfectly (and others will fit in them as well)
  • You can fit 30-40 pages in an album depending on how thick your layouts are

Post Bound albums D ring Albums

Will you choose Post bound or D-Ring?

This depends on the purpose of your album, whether you are scrapbooking or using pocket pages and which you like the look of best. Changing from the Strap load albums I’ve used for years has been easier than I thought it would be.  Here are some of the factors to consider when making your choice.

D-Ring:

  • easily insert pages using the1 1/2inch ring which is very strong and will hold pages in tightly,
  • Pages lay flat when album is open
  • Pages are easily re-sequenced
  • Ideal as a ‘Work in progress’ album
  • Great for those of you who are random scrappers – not always working in one album.  You can keep pages safe in the D-ring until you have enough to transfer to a completed album
  • This is the album to use with pocket style pages and  Picture my Life cards
  • Ideal for quick projects and photo archives

Post-Bound:

  • Can be used with top load and side load protectors
  • Pages lay flat when album is open
  • Spacers can be used between pages with raised embellishments so album sits square when closed
  • Pages are extremely secure once in
  • Posts unscrew easily,
  • Magnet closure flap over the posts conceals the albums inner workings

Australasian February2015 Stamp of the Month Blog Hop S1502 A Happy Hello

Standard

Blog BadgeWelcome to the February Australasian Stamp of the Month Blog Hop.  If you have arrived here from  Patricia’s Blog, Patricia Manhire’s Creative Corner, you are in the right place. This is a circular hop, click through to the blog mentioned at the end of each post and you will find yourself back here.  There’s a lot of love shared in the cards, pages and projects created by my sister consultants using A Happy Hello, Stamp of the Month (S1502). Enjoy!

A Happy Hello is CTMH's Feb 2015 Stamp of the month. The multy sized flowers are perfect for this technique.

A Happy Hello is CTMH’s Feb 2015 Stamp of the month. The multy sized flowers are perfect for this technique.

I have been wanting to try this spiral technique for some time and this stamp set was ideal.  This is the title page for my 2015 album.

Position a 6.25″ photo mount 2″ from the RHS and 2.5″ from lower edge of the page. Begin with the smallest stamp at about 9 o’clock; stamping it 4 times before swapping to the next size stamp.  Continue around until you overlap where you began.

I used 5 inks – Honey, Autumn Terracota,Cranberry, Hollyhock and Gypsy.  Having one colour more than the repititions of the stamp makes the pattern more random.  The larger flowers are made from 2 stamps.

Matching cardstock to inks is easy with the Close To My Heart range.

I stamped directly onto the white cardstock background so it was really quick to do.  Gold sequins(Z2012) and Bitty Sparkles (Z1263) were the only accents I needed.  My letters are cut using the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.

A happy HelloA happy Hello (S1502) is only available during February, 2015.  Full retail price is $27 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $5 when accompanied by a $75 order. I’d love you to leave a comment before you move on to Doris’ Blog, Doris Taylor Creative Expressions, to see what she has designed for you.
