Australasian April 2015 Stamp of the Month Blog Hop S1504 Typed Note

sept-2-pages-page-007
Welcome to the April Australasian Stamp of the Month Blog Hop.  If you have arrived here from  Maz's Blog , Inky Fingers you are in the right place. This is a circular hop, click through to the blog mentioned at the end of each post and you will find yourself back here.  There’s a lot of inspiration and creativity shared in the cards, pages and projects created by 14 of my sister consultants using Typed Noted, Stamp of the Month (S1504). Enjoy!

This Layout is inspired by page 16 of CTMH's 'Cherish' How To Book (9038) This Layout is inspired by page 16 of CTMH's 'Cherish' How To Book (9038)

My passion is scrapbook pages and this gorgeous stamp reminded my of typing classes at school.  I don't have photos of me at a typewriter and I couldn't find anything I had actually typed at the time so my photos are 'representative' rather than actual.  This page forms part of my "Book of Me" album.  It's a project I've been adding to for years.  The first volume has the basics of my birth, family, early childhood and school but the second volume is filled with random pages like this.  I like to think of them as snapshots of my past.

I love the freedom that comes with making random pages.  It doesn't matter that the events referred to are not in chronological order.  The aim is to share insight into my experiences, my passions and the people who have influenced and shaped me.  Something I hope my children and grandchildren will read and feel connected to in some way.

I had a lot of fun making this page and memories of typing class came flooding back.  The OCD part of me LOVED speed & accuracy tests and the drills.  I downloaded a font called Moms Typewriter to my computer.  I found it on www.1001freefonts.com.  Next I made up a full A4 page of typing drills like mum's book used to teach.  I printed this on to White Daisy cardstock and used it as my accent paper on the layout.  I also typed my  journaling in this font.

I stamped the typewriter 3 times onto White Daisy cardstock and once onto Lagoon cardstock.  Each image was fussy cut as follows:
  • Lagoon cut just outside the stamped image;
  • White Daisy 1 - cut full image
  • White Daisy 2 - cut typewriter but not paper
  • White Daisy 3 - cut top section of typewriter only
Then I layered with Thin 3-D Foam Tape (Z2060) before adding it to my layout. A few Aqua Dots (Z1853) finished the page off.

I’d love you to leave a comment for me before you move on to Wendy's Blog, Expressions of the Heart, to see what she has designed for you.

Keep Smiling,

Shaunna

Love it. Glad someone actually enjoyed typing class - I done computers in an attempt to get out of the typing class, but our computer teacher said it was important to learn touch typing if we were doing computers. Well my plan to avoid typing went out the window! Reading your journalling reminded me of this. And I am sure your children, grandchildren & many more generations to come will cherish this snapshot of your life. I only wish I had the stories that went with what few photos of my grandparents I have. They passed away while I was very young, so I can only go off the memories that my parents have them. Believe me your family will treasure these scrapbooks.

I love this page and absolutely adore the idea of a "book of Me". I don't have anything like that and have my own funny typing lesson story...so may have to create a page like this of my own. Thanks for the inspiration.

I love your page Shaunna. I learnt to touch type on a type writer (but it was an electric one), I remember all those typing lessons. Such a fun memory.

Electronic typewriters came to our school when I was in Year 12 - I was so envious of the girls who learnt on those machines!

Mandy, start a book of me - it would suit you perfectly. You don't have to have a plan, just make pages as photos or memorabilia are found. With the D-Ring albums it's so easy to put the pages into some sort of order after they are created. Pinkie would love to see your stories in an album

Thank you Maz. I share your wish that my grandparents had recorded their stories too. It is one of the reasons I'm so passionate about album making. Be sure to make that page about computer class!
