Storage & Display of your Supplies & Artwork

Standard

Well, it only took 14 years but I finally have a dedicated storage system for all my shop supplies and my artwork for future classes.  I am soooo happy with it!

My gorgeous hubby put all the pieces together for me.

My gorgeous hubby put all the pieces together for me.

The system came from Ikea and is a combination of different size ‘cubby hole’ units.  I was thrilled to discover I could add a door or drawers to any spot I desired.

My drawers hold Bling & Embellishments, Flip Flaps, Ribbons & Shimmer Trim, Adhesives, Blocks and Cleaners, Pens and Small Tools.  The cupboards hide items that can look untidy – My Creations containers and different Mini Albums, Paper Packs and larger tools.

Ta Da! How cool does it look? And it is so much tidier than what I had before.

I have a pack of plain cardstock in each CTMH 12″ paper Organizer (Z334) in the centre.  My lovely ladies can easily find the colour they need and the closed envelopes ensure the cardstock doesn’t get dog eared.  I love that my albums fit too.  The BEST part about this lovely new system is that I can display the artwork I’ll be teaching at future events so you can have a peek ahead of time.

These are some of the pages and cards we'll be making at the August 22 Paper Picnic.

June SOTM – Clown Faces

Standard

I happened to glance down at the Ice Cream cone stamp on my work table one day when the stamp was upside down.  All of a sudden all I could see was a clown’s head – the ice-cream had gone!

All my ladies at Saturday’s Paper Picnic loved these cuties so much I thought I’d share the ‘How To’ with all of you.

Turn the ice cream cone upside down and make a clown. CTMH June SOTM 'Ice Cream Dream' S1507 is so versatile!

Turn the ice cream cone upside down and make a clown. CTMH June SOTM ‘Ice Cream Dream’ S1507 is so versatile!

  1.  Stamp 2 Ice Cream cones in Pixie ink on white daisy cardstock.
  2.  Use watercolour pencils (3505) to colour the hat and the clown’s hair.
  3.  Begin with the nose on the face.  Use watercolour pencil to draw a circle and colour it in, leaving a tiny bit of white showing for the ‘shine’
  4.  Next draw the eyes, eyebrows and smile line with black journaling pen
  5.  Colour the lips around the smile line and add some rosy cheeks.
  6.  ‘Smooth’ out the colours with a blending pen (3174).
  7. Cut out the clowns making sure to snip off the drip which just looks weird when sticking out of a clown’s hair 🙂
  8.  Finally, add a tassel to the hat using a small piece of twine.  I stuck mine in place with glue dots.  Your clowns are done!
  9.  Use a Cricut Cut overlay as a stencil to sponge the background pattern on the card.  I used CTMH Artbooking p62 Overlay Shift 5″
  10.  Add some scrap paper and the ‘Your are my happy’ sentiment and your card is done!
Adhesive Springs (Z1725) make these cuties wiggle. Imagine the surprise the recipient of this card will get when they remove it from the envelope! CTMH June 2015 SOTM, Ice Cream Dreams S1507

Blossom – Cards into pages 3

Standard

The stamps in the Blossom WOTG Card Kit are just gorgeous.  I made all the cards but I really wanted to use the stamps in my scrapbook.  I found an easy way to do that by just using the card designs as decorative elements on my pages.

I will be teaching several layouts this way at my Paper Picnic on June 20.  I will be sharing several great hints for making this process easy.  You will find full details of the workshop at the end of this post.  You will need to BYO papers and stamps as the order deadline has now passed.

Here is the third layout I made of my mum’s 85th birthday party.

Using the elements of a great card design on your page can be lots of fun.

I used the 'You are my happy" stamp to create a background design on the Crystal Blue cardstock. The letters were stamped onto Daisy White cardstock using Framework Alphabet E1027, white embossing powderZ2068 and Shin Han Markers. I love fussy cutting but if you don't you could just use a strip of card on your layout.
