Beautiful Friendship collection from Close To My Heart. Available to purchase at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

The Beautiful Friendship collection is the first featured collection in our NEW Seasonal Expressions catalogue.  It is available for purchase until the end of August 2018.  It is my absolute favourite in this catalogue.

Today I am sharing a layout created from Pattern 21 in Make It From Your Heart, Vol 3.  It’s all about my husband’s surprise 60th birthday celebration.  Pink is his favourite colour to wear and he loves a good floral print shirt so this collection was perfect for the photos.

Beautiful Friendship Layout - Page 002

I had quite a bit to tell and reverted to a tried and true technique of adding journaling behind a photo in a flip flap.  Scrapbooking for me is as much about telling a story as it is about the pretty papers.

Beutiful Friendship detail - Page 011

I love creating a focal point of embellishments tied in with my journaling on a page.  Basic Numbers Thin Cuts cut in a print and a plain began the title in the top left hand corner of the page which was then continued in the lower right hand corner.  The two elements framing the photos and drawing our eyes inward.

Beautiful Friendship collection from CTMH availalbe at shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au until Aug, 2018

I love working with the Workshop Your Way Kits, making the layouts and cards.  My aim when working on the cards is to use the basic design elements but change them up in some way so each card looks a little different.  This photo shows what the original designs look like.

Beautiful Friendship WYW Card - supplies and full instructions available at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au until Aug 2018

And here are two of my variations which I love!  Adding a teapot window to the first card made it more playful . The second card has an embossed front created with the Rose embossing folder.  I LOVED painting the teapot and cups with my watercolour paints.

The Postcard Perfect collection is an exclusive one just for National Scrapbook Month.  It is available for purchase during May 2018 – get in quick before it sells out!

Today I am sharing a layout created from Pattern 24 in Make It From Your Heart, Vol 3.

The Postcard Perfect collection is available May 2018, celebrating CTMH National Scrapbook Month. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

The LH side of the first page is a plain piece of paper in the pattern.  I decided to jazz it up a bit using off cuts I have left from other projects with this pack.  The panel is 6″ wide.  My strips vary in height between 3/4″ and 1 1/4″.  Just play with your scraps until you get a design that is pleasing to your eye.

The background paper is made by laying the spotted vellum over the Mint green cardstock which comes in the Postcard Perfect co-ordinating cardstock pack.  I love how the vellum softens the mint colour and adds texture.  Hide your adhesive behind the dots.

The decorative elements for this embellishment cluster came from the cut-apart sheet in the Postcard Perfect paper pack, the May Stamp of the Month, Classic Summer Bash and retired dots from Chelsea Gardens.  The ‘Eat, Drink, Barbecue’ sentiment mad a perfect title for this layout.

This cluster was made by stamping flowers and leaves from the Postcard Perfect stamp set onto white cardstock.  I then fussy cut and added shimmer brush to the flower centres.  Blush Shimmer Ribbon tied in nicely with the colours of this collection too.  The stamp of the month provided “Location, Date & Time” stamps.

If you love this collection make sure you order it from your consultant ASAP. It is only available until the end of this month. Don’t have a CTMH consultant? Head over to my website to place an order for delivery within Australia.

Welcome to the May 2018 Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop. This is a circular hop. If you arrived from Kara’s Blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it. Keep reading and hopping until you find yourself back where you started from. Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Classic Summer Bash (S1805) stamp set which is May’s Stamp of the Month.

May's Stamp of the Month is 'Classic Summer Bash' (S1805). Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

This stamp set reminds me of lazy summer days be the pool when we were young.  Lemon cordial and freshly cut fruit would be wolfed down by the hungry tribe gathered in our back yard.

When my children were 5 & 7 they travelled across Australia by themselves to visit my husband’s parents.  When they arrived home, my son produced this carefully written recipe for Grampy’s Lemon Cordial.  I found it recently when I was going through old documents.  I’m so happy it survived 20+ years!

I decided to add this recipe to my Kitchen Traditions album.  I love that I can record the story behind the recipe too.

Here are some tips to help make you maison jar drink look more realistic:

  • Stamp the jar in Pewter ink on white cardstock.  Fussy cut.
  • Shade your liquid darker near the edges of the glass. (I used Watercolour pencils)
  • Stamp ice cubes in Mink ink.  Have a couple showing above the surface of the liquid.
  • Cut a slit in the rim of the glass
  • Stamp straws with Peacock ink.  Fussy cut.
  • Cut the straws into 2 parts.  Glue lower part level with bottom of the rim and upper part behind the slit.
  • Shade the submerged part of the straws same colour as liquid to make them look like they are in it.
  • Stamp and fussy cut the lemon slices.  Cut a slit in one and position it over the edge of the rim.

Classic Summer Bash (S1805) is available to purchase for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order during May 2018. It can also be purchased for $27 as a single item. Place your order with your Close To My Heart consultant. If you don’t have a consultant, you are welcome to visit my website and place an order for home delivery within Australia. http://www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au
