Last minute cards

Standard

I know as super women, balancing work and family,  we are also supposed to be organised well in advance for Christmas… BUT I know the reality of life means this doesn’t always happen.  As a paper crafter you know the value of hand made.  Today I’m sharing a little hand made card that can be whipped up in a few minutes.

PML Xmas Card

These two cards were made in a few minutes before breakfast!  Here’s what you need on hand for card emergencies…

I also have some bright PML packs for Birthday and Just Because card emergencies.

Artfully Sent Butterfly Card

Standard

OK, it’s official!  The Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge is my new favourite tool.  It makes card making so quick and easy.  Here’s a card I made using mostly scraps.

AS Butterfly card 1

The design is already on the cartridge.  All I had to do was load my paper into the machine and press ‘Cut’.  I was doing a few for my team members so I ended up with lots of lovely butterfly die-cuts in different shades of blue which I plan to use on a page later.

AS Butterfly card

Once the base card is cut, use the die cut butterflies to guide your cutting of scrap papers to place behind the holes.  Add some bling and you are done.

I have some fun Christmas cards created using this cartridge too – I’ll be teaching them at next Wednesday’s Christmas Card Classes (9.30am or 7.30pm) Email shaunnarichards@bigpond.com for details

A Cut Above

Standard

I was at a friend’s house on the weekend and her teenage daughter bounced into the room to proclaim, “It’s only 8 more Fridays until Christmas!”

What’s your reaction to that news?  Something along the lines of, “So much to do, so little time…”?

If that’s how you are feeling then the Close To My Heart Cut Above Kits are made just for you!  Each kit comes with all the supplies you need to make 10 cards or 10 treat bags.  The BEST bit is that everything is pre-cut! Imagine putting together 10 gorgeous Christmas cards AND 10 cute treat bags in one night.

The Cut Above Holiday Treat Bags are perfect for chocolates or home baking but they are also ideally sized for small gifts like a pretty scarf, hair accessories, jewellery, toy cars, make up, etc.  At just $20 for 10 treat bags they are so economical.  The Sweet Salutations Stamp Set(B1466) is the perfect size for the circles in the pack.

We have 2 choices of Cut Above Christmas Card Kits .  The Cut Above Holiday Card Kit (Z2065) is just $18 for 10 cards.

My wish for every new parent

Standard

Here’s a simple card to make for new parents.  I’ve used the stamp set that comes with the Snowhaven Card WOTG Kit (G1085). The sentiment inside the oval frame talks about Christmas and sweaters.  I cut that out so it’s just the frame and then I can use any sentiment in the middle. The papers are scraps from Snowhaven and Wanderful. Don’t you just love the textures on these little hearts?

Welcome a new baby

A new baby brings so much joy so I had to add this little word to the back of the envelope.  Two of CTMH’s new ink colours were ideal for this card – I’ve used Thistle(Z2640) and Glacier(Z2641).  The ribbon is Thistle Diagonal Strip (Z1990).

One other stamp in this set was perfect for the inside of the card.  My wish for every new parent is …

Don’t let the obvious theme of a stamp set limit it’s use.  Think outside the square!

Inspiring Cards

Standard

Today’s post features some beautiful cards made by my team members and colleagues for last weekends product launch.  They are sure to get your creative juices flowing.  I’m on a mission to encourage more people to create and mail handmade cards ‘Just Because’ they can.  We only receive dreary bills and statements in our letterboxes these days.  Let’s brighten someone else’s day by writing a card and posting.  I’d love to hear how your friends and family react when they receive them.

Flower Pot Card

Standard

Enjoy the Little Things!  What a great motto for life.  We are surrounded by so many beautiful blooms in gardens and parks at the moment and this stamp set reminds me of that.

Enjoy the little things 1

Flowerpot card - Page 001

A few years ago, someone clever made a flower pot card at one of my workshops and I always planned to do one but never got around to it.  I have a friend who is going through a tough time at the moment and thought this little card may brighten her day.

Flowerpot card - Page 002

It didn’t take long to make.  I watched a video that gave me all the info I needed.  You can watch it by clicking here.  Basic measurements are 3 1/3″ x 9″ for pot, scored at 3 1/2″ and 7″ and the insert is 2 1/2″ x 5″.  This fits Australian C6 envelopes ( The lady on the video is using American sized envelopes)  The decorative edge of the pot rim was created using CTMH Scallop Border Punch (Z1851).

Flowerpot card - Page 003

I cut my blooms using the Art Philosophy cartridge and stamped one of the images as a centre for each.  I layered different sized flowers using foam dots.    The leaves are cut free hand.

Washi Tape was perfect to hold the pot together… no need to fuss with bow tying for this one. I love the little flag that comes with this set and felt it added a nice finishing touch.

If you check out page 7 of our NEW Idea Book and Catalogue (Feb-July 2-14) you will see two gorgeous little gift bags decorated with this stamp set.  I made this card to match one of the bags.

Enjoy the little things

If you’d like to own an Enjoy the Little Things Stamp set it can be yours for just $8 as a hostess*.  All you need are a few friends who would like to make a card, a clear dining table and me!  Leave a comment or contact me to choose a date.

Cool Christmas Card

Standard

ImageHere is a fun card for those extra special people on your list.  I’ve made it up using Sparkle & Shine papers and the Santa Claus Stamp set.

I was making 12 so I did everything in a production line…

ImageImage

Stamp 12 Santa’s onto Daisy White Cardstock and cut each one out.

Cut 12 White Daisy Rectangles, each 5 1/2″ x 3 1/2″  Stamp a greeting centred right at the top.  Stamp border pattern of your choice along bottom

Image Image Image

Cut 12 Ruby and 12 Juniper squares, each 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″

Cut 12 card bases 12″ x 6″ . Score & fold at 4″ and 8″ to create a tri-fold card.

Trim a triangle off each of the fold out sections as shown.  I used the 45° line on my 12″ Trimmer.  Flip this triangle over and glue as shown.  I like to use Bonding Memories Glue as it seals right up to the edge of the paper for a professional finish.

Score  2″ in from outer edges of base and fold outwards so it shows on front of card.

Add Ruby and Juniper squares, layered on point and decorated with Santa cut out.

Glue the message panel to the inside and you are done!
