The ‘Tis the Season collection is available until the end of December 2018. Buy it as a full kit or purchase individual items.I have loved using this paper pack for my Christmas photos of last year but today’s layout has nothing to do with Christmas.

I’ve used 2 packs of this paper. I pulled out my left overs to see what I could use on this hop. I had lots of the paper with Charcoal on one side and Candy Apple on the other and a bit of the fern leaves print. Mmm, what to do???
I called on my new best friend!

The Love of Colour Book is an invaluable resource we all need to own. It shows colour combinations that work together! I flipped to the Charcoal page and saw that Charcoal, Candy Apple, Fern, Sapphire and Carolina were suggested as a good combo. Brilliant! 3 of those colours were already in the papers I had selected. All I had to add was the two blues.

Tis The Season Blog layout

This layout is based on the Now You See It layout in the Magic How To book (p22). It worked perfectly for the panorama shots we had taken. I had printed them on 4×6 paper so they were all the same width but different heights.  It was easy to fit several in a line on the right hand side of the layout.

Tis The Season Blog layout detail

I loved the title design in the ideas book and re-created it with Block Alphabet Thin Cuts and a free hand drawn and cut  flourish. At first I just had Sapphire letters but when I added the Candy Apple print behind them, they really popped – especially when I used foam dots!!

The moral of this story is to look past the obvious theme of a set of papers and discover how adaptable they can be.

Gingerbread Friends Christmas Banner

Standard

How cute is this little Gingerbread banner? One of my sister consultants, Laura Beachum, gifted a kit to me at a recent retreat and I loved it so much I just have to share with all of you.

Oh Snap! (D1743) is a super cute stamp set from CTMH. Available until Dec 31, 2017. Snap yours up at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au
Instructions for making the banner follow. Read right to the end to discover how you can receive a pre-cut kit FREE.

The banner can be made using all Close To My Heart stamps and Thin Cuts. A full list of all items used appears at the end of this post.

Here’s how:

  • Cut 16 gingerbread people from the light side of Almond Cardstock
  • Cut 14 2″ banners from the dark side of Toffee Cardstock using the Basic Banners Thin Cuts
  • Cut the letters for Merry Christmas from Red Glitter Paper using the Block Alphabet Thin Cuts (NB This is a different font to the one Laura cut on her Cricut for my banner)
  • Stamp and decorate your gingerbread people using Toffee, Cranberry and Espresso inks
  • Layer letters on banner shapes
  • Punch small holes in gingerbread hands and top corners of banner shapes.
  • Thread all shapes onto 6 feet of twine. Begin and end each word with a gingerbread person.

Do you love it? Would you like a pre-cut kit for FREE? Simply be one of the first 8 people to order the Gingerbread Friends Stamp Set (D1743) or the Gingerbread Friends Stamp and Thin Cuts Bundle (Z3378) from me and I will gift you a kit ready to stamp and assemble.
As an added bonus, every person ordering the stamps or thin cut bundle will also receive instructions to make the cute little storage box. This is perfect if you are gifting the banner to a friend and will also keep it safe when Christmas is over.
You have two ways to order:

  1. Visit my website and place an order for home delivery
  2. Email me at shaunnarichards@bigpond.com.au to have your stamps added to my next order. You can collect from me once they arrive.

Gingerbread Friends Brooch

Standard

Last night 13 of my team and I attended the state launch event for Seasonal Expressions 1.  That’s our New Year’s catalogue which is filled with awesomeness you are going to love.  BUT… I’m sworn to secrecy and can’t share anything yet.  I’m such a tease, aren’t I?

This post is about the Christmas brooches I made for each team member who attended.  I adore the Gingerbread Friends stamp and Thin Cuts set.  You can dress these cuties up in many ways.

CTMH Gingerbread Friends (Z3378) - purchase yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.auI stamped the Gingerbread girl onto Almond cardstock using Toffee and Cranberry ink.  The tiara comes from the Quinceanera stamp set which can be found in the International stamps on my website.   It was heat embossed with Silver and trimmed a little to fit the Ginger’s head.  Why a tiara?  Because my team are the Dazzling Duchesses 🙂

Add the Gingerbread Girl to a Daisy White and a Red Glitter tag and finish with a brooch pin.  The largest of the Basic Banners Thin Cuts was the perfect size. Super quick to make and a fun gift.

Banner Die cuts are super versatile. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.auIf you use Cranberry cardstock instead of the glitter, they make great gift tags.

CTMH Silver & Gold Workshop Your Way is perfect for Christmas Market photos Who can resist a bit of bling?
Today I am sharing a layout featuring photos from our time at the Nurnberg Christmas Markets last year.  If you ever have the opportunity to visit, GO!!!  It’s a sensory overload of Christmas goodness.  Be sure to take an empty suitcase with you so you can shop to your heart’s content.

CTMH Silver & Gold Workshop Your Way is perfect for Christmas Market photos Add Flip Flaps so you can include ALL the photos you take.

The layout is based in Pattern 24 in Make It From Your Heart, Vol 3.  I added the Poppy photo mats because they helped my photos stand out on the page.  Using 4″ x 6″ Flip Flaps on the RH page gave me space for 4 extra photos.  No need for a second layout now.

CTMH Silver & Gold Workshop Your Way is perfect for Christmas Market photos Who can resist a bit of shimmer trim?

All the stickers on the layout come from the Complements pack.  These were left over once I’d complete the 3 layouts that come with the kit.  Shimmer trim and gold dots helped my title pop on the page and the White & Gold twine blended perfectly with the collection.

CTMH Silver & Gold Workshop Your Way is perfect for Christmas Market photos Make your journal box an integral part of the page design.

Using the Cut Apart PML cards that come with the kit is the easiest way to incorporate smaller patterned pieces into your layout.  This element makes the journaling an integral part of the overall design.  I’m a firm believer in telling the story and leaving enough room for some details.

Today I am sharing a layout featuring some of my favourite Elf on the Shelf snaps.  I can’t wait until Razzle makes an appearance again this year.

The ‘Oh What Fun’ title was too long for my available space so I cut the stamp to break it into 2 parts.  This doesn’t affect the quality of your stamping and if you want a long title next time you can position the 2 pieces together on a block and no-one will know!

I do love using stamps with coordinating dies to create embellishments on my pages.  You can cut through 2 layers of cardstock at a time so it didn’t take long to cut enough presents for the layout.  This also used up some of those pesky small scraps that clutter my paper organisers.

Close To My Heart’s, clear and gold shimmer brushes were made for Christmas.  Add them to the lights and gifts for some extra sparkle.  It is so hard to photograph sparkle!  You can see it on the Christmas tree star.

Welcome to the October, 2017 Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop.  This is a circular hop.  If you arrived from Maz’s blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and hopping until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Christmas Tunes(S1710) stamp set which is October’s Stamp of the Month.CTMH Stamp of the Month Christmas Tunes (S1710) is availalbe during October, 2017 at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

Like so many of you, I am a Christmas tragic.  I pin ideas for decorations and projects all year, I have made my own Christmas cards for decades and my collection of ornaments grow every year – I even bring them home from overseas travel!  A long held tradition in our family is watching the Melbourne Carols by Candlelight each Christmas Eve – mostly on TV but a few times we’ve been there in person.  This stamp set immediately puts me in that place – surrounded by smiling faces, candles glowing and amazing performers.

My offering today is inspiration for Christmas cards you can make in October so you are super organised 😊 I know we all have different amounts of crafting time and some of us like a clean and classic look while others like lots of bling – a bit like the frocks the performers wear at the Carols!

I have taken a classic card design for each stamp and made it twice – the first is quick and easy to make and the second is a little fancier.  You can choose the one that suits your style and available time the best.  Or you could give the fancy ones to friends who will appreciate your hard work and the simpler ones to those who may not. 😊

First up we have ‘O Holy Night’.  Cranberry & New England Ivy inks team nicely with the Beary Christmas paper.

Quick and easy version – stamp all 3 components on the same piece of cardstock.  Trim an even-ish curve around the wreath.

Fancy Version – Stamp each component separately and fussy cut to highlight all the details.  Pop elements up on foam tape.  Add Gold Shimmer Pen to bow and holly leaves.  Add Red Gems.  The extra layer of White Daisy cardstock helps the image pop.

Christmas Tunes Stamp of the Month for October 2017 - such a fun set to own. Plain or fancy? Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Next we have ‘White Christmas’.  Raspberry ink & cardstock create a fun contrast to  the Silver and Gold paper pack.

Quick and easy version – stamp image in Raspberry ink and add colour with Shin Han markers.

Fancy Version – Trim the background layer in to 3 pieces and use ribbon in place of cardstock for the horizontal strip.  Fussy cut the stamped image, add White & Gold Twine and use foam dots to pop it up.   Add Bashful Pearls to the image.Christmas Tunes Stamp of the Month for October 2017 - such a fun set to own. Plain or fancy? Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Let’s look at ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ next.   Fern ink complements the Beary Christmas paper.

Quick and easy version – Colour stars with Shin Han marker.

Fancy Version – Add Beary Christmas red dots and Bitty Sparkles to some of the stars.  Place a Gold Glitter Gem in the star at the top of the tree.  The extra layer of Cranberry cardstock helps the image and border to stand out.Christmas Tunes Stamp of the Month for October 2017 - such a fun set to own. Plain or fancy? Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Finally, Baby It’s Cold Outside.   Sapphire cardstock provides a strong contrast to the Gold & Silver Paper Pack.  Crystal Blue ink gives the look of a snow globe.

Quick and easy version – Add Clear Shimmer brush to the inside of the globe and to the base.  Sorry the photos doesn’t show this very well.

Fancy Version – Add in Silver Glitter paper – stamp the snow globe onto scrap paper to create a template for cutting the base segment.  Add Bitty Sparkles and Clear Sparkles inside the globe.Christmas Tunes Stamp of the Month for October 2017 - such a fun set to own. Plain or fancy? Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

What will you choose – classic or fancy cards?  Or will you try one of each?  I hope you enjoy creating them as much as I did

You will find a list of the products used on the layout at the end of this post.

Christmas Tunes(S1710) is only available during October, 2017.  Full retail price is $27 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order. Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant.

Did you like these ideas? Can you think of a few friends who would love to receive a hand made Christmas card this year? I’d love you to leave a comment for me before you click on the underlined link and move on to Doris’s Blog, Creative Inspirations, to see the project she has designed for you.

Welcome to the Australasian Oh Deer! Blog Hop.  This is a circular hop.  If you arrived from  Lauren’s blog you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and ‘hopping’ until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Oh Deer Workshop Your Way (G11146) from Close To My Heart.

This collection is my favourite from the Holiday Expressions Catalogue.  The soft hues and patterns are a delight to work with.  The layout I’ve created could be used for Christmas Day photos at the beach, in park or in snow (which I’m hoping for as an Aussie travelling to Germany this year!)

oh-deer-layout

Sponging the edges of each cut piece with Cocoa Ink (Z2814) helos define the pieces and give a more dimensional look to the layout.  Two Cut Apart PML cards were used – one for journaling and one as a title box.

oh-deer-title-box

This PML card had a row of reindeer on the bottom, which was easily covered by a strip of the Sea Glass patterned paper.  The white and Gold Twine (Z4014) is included in the WYW kit and helps draw your eye to the title box.  The letters and decorative elements are all from the Oh Deer Compliments.  (Z7214C)

Have some fun creating a title box to suit you photos.  Just keep adding little bits until you are happy with the overall look.

The Oh Deer! Workshop Your Way (G1116) kit is only available until the end of December. It may sell out before then so order yours today.  Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant. If you don’t have a consultant, you can order online through my website .
