city-sidwalks-wyw-g1114I have a confession to make.  I spent quite a bit of time creating a lovely layout for today’s blog and then wrote the post.  Doing a final check of the links the night before this post went live I discovered I had used the wrong collection!!!  The good news is, I’m all set for next month’s hop.  The bad news is I didn’t have time to make a layout, photograph it and write a post.   Check back later in the month and I’ll make it up to you with a City Sidewalks layout.

I have a cute card to share with you though that uses one of the patterned papers in City Sidewalks!

This card has been extremely popular at my card buffets and I am happy to share the instructions with you today.  Just click the underlined link to download them.

1016-sotm

Who can resist these gorgeous Christmas shapes with their intricate designs?  Stamp and colour them to really personalise each design or do as I have and keep them uncoloured. Today’s layout features non-traditional Christmas colours.  I just love the Adventure Cardstock colours with Christmas stamps this year – so fun and a bit different.

s1610-yuletide-joy-layout

This layout will feature photos of our first Christmas gathering to include my son’s girlfriend.  How fabulous it is to have 6 in our family to celebrate with now.  I used versamark ink and white embossing powder to really make the stocking and star designs pop.

s1610-yuletide-joy-page-002

All About The Gold Fundamentals are clear 12″ x 12″ overlays with gold patterns printed on them.  A strip of the diagonal stripe provided the anchor to hang my stockings on.  The title is one of our new Thin Cuts – Christmas.  I love this font.

The star is also gorgeous in this stamp set and made a nice focal point for this embellishment cluster placed diagonally opposite the title to help frame the page.

You will find details of the products used on the layout at the end of this post.

Yuletide Joy (S1610) is only available during October, 2016.  Full retail price is $27 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order. Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant.

White Pines – Trim the Tree

Standard

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you know I LOVE Flip Flaps!  Today I have a super cute way to display photos of some of the decorations you use at Christmas time.

Trim the Tree Flip Flap Page

I’m not happy with the centre bottom photo but have to wait until Dec 25 to re-shoot it 🙂

All the Flip Flaps come from the Small Assortment pack (Z1747).  They are attached to the OUTSIDE of the page protector.  Begin at the bottom and work your way up.  I found the easiest way to do this was to place the empty page protector on my Versamat so I could see the gridlines through it.  This helped to centre the design and keep the rows even.

Trim the Tree Flip Flap Page

When all the flaps are flipped you see my beautiful family enjoying last Christmas.  The photo of the tree is stuck to the White Pines paper (Z7200B)  inside the protector.  I created the photo mat & title using the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge.

Super easy and lots of fun.  No-one can resist the urge to flip those flaps and discover what they are hiding.

Order your Flip Flaps here.

Like a kit with the Flip Flaps, page protector, White Pines paper, pre cut photo frame and a BONUS tree cut you can place behind the main photo?  I can do that for you – just $12 plus postage.  Email shaunnarichards@bigpond.com and we’ll get it organised.

Australasian October Stamp of the Month Blog Hop – Twinkle S1510

At first glance, you could be forgiven for thinking this is a Christmas stamp set.  But look closely and there are some cool ‘all occassion’ stamps hiding there.

S1510 TwinkleI’m up to date with my Christmas photos so I made a layout of the Chinese New Year parade in Sydney this year.  I chose the Sangria Papers for the lovely red shades which go so well with the theme of photos and stamps.

Twinkle blog hop - Page 003The little frames were the perfect size for my title stamped with the NEW alphabet, Jennifer’s Hand (B1484)  The letters are just 1/2″ high.  The small cluster of stars made a pretty background and the ring of stars really popped when I heat embossed it with gold powder (Z2066).  The Campagne square was dry embossed with our new Confetti Stars (Z3119) Embossing Folder.

This really was such a fun parade and I took heaps of photos.  I loved this layout so decided to make it expand with the use of Flip Flaps.

12" Flip Flaps are amazing

12″ Flip Flaps are amazing

By adding 2 of the 6″ deep Flip Flaps I effectively added 2 pages to this layout without needing lots of extra decoration.  A 4″ x 6″ Flip Flap on the LH page was the perfect spot for the last few photos I wanted to include.

12" Flip Flaps line up with the edge of your protector.

Welcome to the May Australasian Stamp of the Month Blog Hop.  If you have arrived here from  Marguerite’s Blog you are in the right place. This is a circular hop, click through to the blog mentioned at the end of each post and you will find yourself back here.  There’s a lot of inspiration and creativity shared in the cards, pages and projects created by my sister consultants using Just Sayin’, May’s Stamp of the Month (S1505). Enjoy!

You can never have too many textured shapes in your stamp sets

You can never have too many textured shapes in your stamp sets

I love the geometric shapes that come in this stamp set.  You could make borders, outlines or background papers easily by playing with the circle, square and triangle.  I always try to make the SOTM work with the next lot of photos I have to scrapbook and these shaped stamps echo the shapes in the photos.  Add some gold embossing powder and it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas all over again!

Cut a circle to use as a mask and stamp all the way around it - half on, half off

Bake Day

Standard

I’m on the home stretch completing 2014’s family album!  This layout was quick and easy.  Each year a group of friends gather to bake for Christmas.  In recent years some of our daughters have been joining us which makes it twice the fun.  This layout is a celebration of 2014’s delicious creations.

PML cards make journaling so easy

I used Yuletide Carol papers (X7187B) for my background and Ruby Cardstock (X5927) for the photo mounts.  The accents and journaling cards came from the A La Carte Pear & Partridge PML Kit (Z3064).

The Elf on the Shelf has come to visit!

Look who was waiting to greet me in the craft room this morning.  I’ve heard about these little elves who help Santa out but I’ve never had one visit before.  Santa must have realised I need a helper while Kathryn is gallivanting around the world!

Razzle Dazzle Nov 30

Her name is Razzle Dazzle and here’s the letter she arrived with.  Hope she doesn’t spend everyday on my scrapping table or I’ll never get anything done.

Looks like we are in for a fun month!

Last minute cards

Standard

I know as super women, balancing work and family,  we are also supposed to be organised well in advance for Christmas… BUT I know the reality of life means this doesn’t always happen.  As a paper crafter you know the value of hand made.  Today I’m sharing a little hand made card that can be whipped up in a few minutes.

PML Xmas Card

These two cards were made in a few minutes before breakfast!  Here’s what you need on hand for card emergencies…

I also have some bright PML packs for Birthday and Just Because card emergencies.

Cool Containers

One of the things I love about being a consultant with Close To My Heart is the active sharing of ideas between consultants.  It is rare for me to have to think something up myself – so many really creative ladies make amazing things and show the rest of us how it’s done.

Take these fabulous Christmas gift tubes for instance.  These ones were made by Katrina Crute, a consultant in my team.  She showed them off at this month’s team play day.  Her inspiration had come from consultants in the Eastern States.

Katrina Crute packaging

Katrina said she plans to run a strip of sticky tape over the join between the lid and base because otherwise her kids might peek.  On Christmas day they can cut the tape.

I loved these and used the basic design to decorate a My Creations Kraft Container (X1833) for my Operation Smile donations collection container.  Close to My Heart are corporate partners with this amazing organisation.  Volunteer health professionals from all over the world regularly work within Operation Smile teams in third world countries repairing Cleft Lips and Cleft Palettes. In Australia this surgery is carried out early and children enjoy growing up without the stigma of a facial deformity.  In third world countries this isn’t the case and children often die because they can’t feed properly or endure teasing and exclusion from school.

Operation smile

You can help our fundraising efforts by adding a small donation to each of your orders.  It can be as simple as rounding the total up to the next dollar!  Just $275 AU will fund one operation.  Will you help me to help as many kids as we can in the next year?

Visit http://australia.operationsmile.org/ to learn more about their work.
