Who can resist these gorgeous Christmas shapes with their intricate designs?  Stamp and colour them to really personalise each design or do as I have and keep them uncoloured. Today’s layout features non-traditional Christmas colours.  I just love the Adventure Cardstock colours with Christmas stamps this year – so fun and a bit different.

This layout will feature photos of our first Christmas gathering to include my son’s girlfriend.  How fabulous it is to have 6 in our family to celebrate with now.  I used versamark ink and white embossing powder to really make the stocking and star designs pop.

All About The Gold Fundamentals are clear 12″ x 12″ overlays with gold patterns printed on them.  A strip of the diagonal stripe provided the anchor to hang my stockings on.  The title is one of our new Thin Cuts – Christmas.  I love this font.

The star is also gorgeous in this stamp set and made a nice focal point for this embellishment cluster placed diagonally opposite the title to help frame the page.

You will find details of the products used on the layout at the end of this post.

Yuletide Joy (S1610) is only available during October, 2016.  Full retail price is $27 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order. Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant.

Welcome to the August Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop.  This is a circular hop.  If you arrived from Maz’s Blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and ‘hopping’ until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Purr-fect Halloween (S1608) stamp set which is August’s Stamp of the Month.

Perr-fect Halloween

I love this set because it has a cat on it – I will be sure to use it with photos of my gorgeous fur baby, Sandy.  Today however, I want to share a layout that has nothing to do with cats or Halloween. I love to take a themed stamp set and turn it into something different so I had a really good look at all the gorgeous small stamps in this set.  Here’s what I came up with as I played one night.SOTM 0816 - Page 002

I can see so many possibilities using these small stamps as accents and borders on your pages.  Here’s how I used a few of them.

SOTM 0816 page

It’s a very simple layout because the photos are quite busy.  I have used two of Close To My Heart’s NEW cardstock colours, Tangerine (X5786) and Sea Glass (X5789) along with one of the totally delicious sheets the NEW All About the Gold Fundamentals (Z3246).  These are 12″ x 12″ clear overlays with gold foil designs – so pretty!  Hold them in place with micro glue dots (Z2089).

SOTM 0816 - Page 001

The pretty frame in Purr-fect Halloween made a purr-fect title box when I heat embossed it with gold powder and stamped using the NEW Pen Pal Alphabet (B1539)

Did you spot those cat eyes used as a frame for my journaling?  Check out the lovely black ribbon too – it has pretty gold threads on the edges and is part of the 3 roll set of NEW ribbons called Uptown Ribbon Pack (Z3289).  These are sure to become your go to ribbons this year.

Purr-fect Halloween (S1608) is only available during August, 2016.  Full retail price is $27 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order. Place your order with your CTMH Consultant.

Starburst Scrapbook Page

Standard

I have seen many of these Starburst layouts made by other consultants and I have loved everyone of them.  I decided it was high time Ito have a go myself!  You can make yours using a monochromatic colour scheme like this one, use all the papers from one pack or do something bright and daring!  All options work.

Starburst pageHere’s how to do it…

Starburst (4) Starburst (2) Starburst (3)

Mount your feature photo and add it to the page.

Starburst (1)The sentiment is stamped using July’s Stamp of the Month Life Is Wonderful (which you can get FREE this month*).  Heat emboss the sentiment with white embossing powder and then colour over the embossing with Shin Han Markers.

Use shells from Treasured Friendship (C1594) and heat emboss with Gold Embossing Powder.  The papers used were the scraps cut off the starburst earlier.

This is a circular hop, click through to the blog mentioned at the end of each post and you will find yourself back here.  There’s a lot of Wonderful inspiration and creativity shared in the cards, pages and projects created by my sister consultants using Life is Wonderful, July’s Stamp of the Month (S1507). Enjoy!

Life really is wonderful when you are on a luxury cruise surrounded by family!

Life really is wonderful when you are on a luxury cruise surrounded by family!

These photos were taken on a cruise so I decided a monochtomayic page featuring shades of blue was needed.  Don’t you just love the way CTMH papers mix and match.  This page features papers from Blossom, Jackson, Chalk It Up and Seaside.

Using the Jackson paper for the journal box has gives some lines to follow – nice bonus!  The frame stamp is a lovely way to highlight your photos.

It's so easy to make your title look fab with this set. Outdoor denim ink on Jackson paper for the frame and 'Life is' sentiment. Colonial White Pigment ink and clear embossing powder for the 'wonderful' sentiment. Fussy cut it and raise on some foam tape. Too easy!

Fringe Festival – Heat Embossing

Standard

The Perth Fringe Festival is a fun filled month of creativity and vitality.  Our family enjoy going to a variety of performances and supporting up and coming actors, dancers, singers and circus performers.  This page features photos Mike took as we wandered through the streets of Northbridge before a show.

CTMH Yuletide Carol papers and LOL stamps make a simple page. www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

It’s a super simple layout using papers from Yuletide Carol – who’d have thought Christmas papers would look great with street scapes.

CTMH Yuletide Carol papers and LOL stamps make a simple page. www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Mike captured Kathryn and James messing around on Instagram and I wanted the page to be about the fun they have with their phones as well as the Fringe ‘landscape’.  The LOL (A1159) stamp set was perfect.   It has all the symbols and words we use everyday on social media.  I placed several stamps along a 1″ x 3 1/2″ block, stamped repeatedly using VersaMark(Z891) ink and then heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder (Z2066).

If you haven’t tried heat embossing I encourage you to have a go – it opens up a whole new world of decorating options for your pages.  Order your inks and powders here.

Happy Australia Day

Standard

Happy Australia Day everyone!

I hope you have plans for a relaxed day enjoying all the delights of our Australian landscape and culture.  Our house is about to get busy.  Each year our daughter hosts a ‘Hottest 100’ Countdown Party.  A National radio Station, JJJ, plays the most popular songs of the year as voted by it’s listeners.  The day involves lazing by the pool, eating yummy food and enjoying friendships new and old as the songs play.

I realised the other night I’ve never made a page about this event.  I have corrected that now – really important as this is likely to be the last one held here.  So, here is my page. (If you are reading this early, there are no photos – check back this afternoon to see them)

Inspiration fro this layout came from p22 of the Reflections How To Book.

Inspiration for this layout came from p22 of the “Reflections” How To Book.

The 1-10 title will be used to list the top 10 songs and the top 10 highlights of the day – there is always much hilarity and some classic quotes that are worth recording.  I cut this title from the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge (p81).

I was happy to find a photo mat with stars too.  It’s on p65 of the Atrbooking Cricut Cartridge.

The Celebrat Australia Stamp (D1640) is perfect for Australia Day photos.

The Celebrate Australia Stamp (D1640) is perfect for Australia Day photos.

The title was fun to create. I cut large letters with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge and added the fircracker stars to each letter.  I then embossed these with silver heat embossing powder and fussy cut the firecrackers below the letters.  The Triangle Border punch added detail and then I sanded it for some texture.

The Australian Flag stamp in this set is very clever.  You stamp the flag in Outdoor Denim ink onto white cardstock and then stamp the smaller cross in Cranberry.  It’s easy to line up because our stamps and blocks are clear.

Hav a fabulous Australia Day, remember to take lots of photos and make some pages of your traditions.

Keep Smiling,

Shaunna

Australasian November 2014 Stamp of the Month Blog Hop S1411 It’s the Little Things

Standard

Welcome to November’s Australasian Stamp of the Month Blog Hop.  We have all been creating with the ‘It’s the Little Things’ stamp set.  If you arrived here from Wendy’s Blog you are in the right spot.  If you happened upon us accidently, WELCOME to the hop.  Once you’ve checked out my post you can click on the link at the bottom to visit the next blog on the tour.  Eventually you’ll end up back here.  Enjoy!

Little things pages

I wanted to create a bright and cheerful layout to match the mood of these photos taken on Formal night during our recent Mediterranean Cruise.  We were cruising to celebrate my sister’s 50th birthday.  Not every family member could join us but we so rarely get the opportunity for family portraits we jumped at this one.

I recently watched a You Tube video on the ‘Smack Down’ stamping technique and I just had to try it.  Before I was a scrapbooker I used to spend hours creating fabric using machine embroidery.  This stamping technique reminded me of that process.  Click here to watch the Smack Down Stamping clip.

little things masking

The photo above shows my masking and smack down stamping.  I followed the exact process demonstrated in the video.

little things stamp

I used just the top left flower for the smack down stamping.  My three colours were Pixie, Sorbet and Cranberry.  Then I stamped the bottom right flower and the concentric circles onto scrap daisy white paper and embossed the centres with Silver Heat Embossing powder. Do your embossing while the stamped images are on a larger piece of paper and cut them out when you are finished. I daubed the edges of the cut outs with slate ink to help them stand out from the background.  I created an accent cluster top left and bottom right of the double page layout.  I also used the dotty flower centre to define the edge of the smack down design and in the centre of the Cranberry flowers on the page. The leaves were stamped using Pear Pigment Ink so they would stand out against the pink and red background.

little things

The It’s the Little Things Stamp of the Month is only available during the month of November.  Full retail price is $27 (S1410) but why pay that much when you can get it for just $5 with an accompanying $75 order? Visit your consultant’s website to place your order or write your wish list.

Feel free to leave a comment or share this blog post with friends before you hop over to Anne’s Blog to see what she has created.
