Giggles & Grins – workshop fun

One of the things I love about being a leader with Close To My Heart is sharing in the journeys of consultants in my team.  This page brings back lovely memories of a fun filled day in a wheatbelt town creating with 3 Dazzlers (my team is know as the Dazzling Duchesses) and some of their customers. Mike was my travel buddy and he spent the day editing our photos rather than page making.

I love using the Reflections How To Book to plan my pages

The room was filled with laughter as each lady created a cute card and a page layout.  I enjoyed meeting new ladies and re-connecting with others.  It makes me feel part of the community these ladies belong to.

This quick and easy layout was copied from 6C in the Reflections How To Book.  Reflections is my go to reference whenever my creative juices aren’t flowing.  I loved the clean lines of this layout.  I used Chalk It Up papers.

Australasian April 2015 Stamp of the Month Blog Hop S1504 Typed Note

Welcome to the April Australasian Stamp of the Month Blog Hop.  If you have arrived here from  Maz’s Blog , Inky Fingers you are in the right place. This is a circular hop, click through to the blog mentioned at the end of each post and you will find yourself back here.  There’s a lot of inspiration and creativity shared in the cards, pages and projects created by 14 of my sister consultants using Typed Noted, Stamp of the Month (S1504). Enjoy!

This Layout is inspired by page 16 of CTMH's 'Cherish' How To Book (9038)

My passion is scrapbook pages and this gorgeous stamp reminded my of typing classes at school.  I don’t have photos of me at a typewriter and I couldn’t find anything I had actually typed at the time so my photos are ‘representative’ rather than actual.  This page forms part of my “Book of Me” album.  It’s a project I’ve been adding to for years.  The first volume has the basics of my birth, family, early childhood and school but the second volume is filled with random pages like this.  I like to think of them as snapshots of my past.

I love the freedom that comes with making random pages.  It doesn’t matter that the events referred to are not in chronological order.  The aim is to share insight into my experiences, my passions and the people who have influenced and shaped me.  Something I hope my children and grandchildren will read and feel connected to in some way.

Typed Note SOTM small - Page 002

I had a lot of fun making this page and memories of typing class came flooding back.  The OCD part of me LOVED speed & accuracy tests and the drills.  I downloaded a font called Moms Typewriter to my computer.  I found it on  Next I made up a full A4 page of typing drills like mum’s book used to teach.  I printed this on to White Daisy cardstock and used it as my accent paper on the layout.  I also typed my  journaling in this font.

Typed Note SOTM small - Page 001

I stamped the typewriter 3 times onto White Daisy cardstock and once onto Lagoon cardstock.  Each image was fussy cut as follows:

  • Lagoon cut just outside the stamped image;
  • White Daisy 1 – cut full image
  • White Daisy 2 – cut typewriter but not paper
  • White Daisy 3 – cut top section of typewriter only

Then I layered with Thin 3-D Foam Tape (Z2060) before adding it to my layout. A few Aqua Dots (Z1853) finished the page off.

This layout is copied from page 123 of the Reflections How To Book.  I used a long stamp to create the border for the photo and a combination of a doodle line and the ‘choose happy’ sentiment for the top block.  The flowers were cut using the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.

Hopscotch Happy Birthday

This fun layout came from page 36 of the Reflections How To Book.  I love that the layouts in this book have very simple designs you can dress up.

Feb blogs 8x4 - Page 002

The Outdoor Denim strips have been scored using the Scoreboard and then sanded to expose a little of the white core.  This adds great texture.  The Hopscotch papers were perfect for my photos and the little concentric circles stamp from the WOTG kit added a nice accent to my Colonial White circles behind the title. How pretty does the NEW Blue Shimmer Trim look – I toned it down with a few strands of twine over it… bit less girlie that way.

Feb blogs - Page 003

The book described how to turn plain cardstock circles into shiny buttons!  Simply add some holes with the piecing tool, separate some Thick Twine into strands for the thread and then add Liquid Glass.  So simple and so effective.

This Moment – Girls night out

Here is the second layout for our Little Black Dress night.  It follows on from Friday’s post.  A large group of young women (I include myself here because I felt young that night) on the dance floor seem to spend more time taking photos of themselves than dancing!  Perhaps that is more a reflection on the quality of the music than the individuals.  Anyway, the result was a set of fun photos taken at awkward angles but filled with smiles.

This page features heartstrings papers, This Moment and You're the Bomb stamp sets.

The layout is based on Hocus Pocus, p56 of the Magic How To Book.  I liked the angles – they give more energy to the layout and reflect the feeling of the night.

The Stamp of the Month, This Moment (S1501), worked beautifully with the them.  I was really happy with my XOXO border.  I also used one word from the You’re the Bomb  (C1617) stamp set in my title.

This Moment, January 2015 Stamp of the Month. Yours for just $5 with a $75 order.

You’re the Bomb (C1617) – $3 US from the sale of each stamp set is donated to Operation Smile between now and March 31.

By purchasing this set at full retail price  of $21 you can help change the life of a child as CTMH will donate $US3 from your purchase to Operation Smile. Make your purchase before March 31st to ensure your donation.

I love the positive words and the font used for them.  This was a very happy evening with my ‘neice’ – you know the ones you aren’t related too but they feel as close as family.  I chose these photos for the today’s blog hop because these girlies have gorgeous smiles and we take that a bit for granted.

I’ve used the Heartstrings Workshop on the Go Stamps (G1090), Heartstrings Papers (X7193B) and Heartstrings Complements (X7193C) on my layout.  It’s such a great pack for wedding related pages.

The beautiful doily frame was cut using the Artiste Cricut Cartridge (Z1790).  I also added a bit of our new white shimmer trim either side of the zip strip accents.  This layout was inspired by the Crystal Ball Layout in the Magic How To Book (9040).

All it takes to correct one cleft lip or cleft palette in a third worl country is $275 AU donated to Operation Smile.  I hope you will support this valuable program by purchasing the You’re the Bomb (C1617)stamp set.  Visit your consultant’s website to place your order.

Heartstrings Birthday Page

The Heartstrings Workshop on the Go (G1090) is a card making kit but I have used the stamps on lots of my album pages.  The sentiments blend with so many of life’s celebrations.  Today my pages are all about my sister’s birthday breakfast which we celebrated on our balcony in Riomaggiore on the Cinque Terra in Italy last year.  It was a very special experience!

Rhonda 51

The layout is based on Card Trick from the Magic How To Book (9040).  It was very quick to make.

Rhonda 51 2

I love the Hugs & Kisses stamp in the WOTG – Rhonda insists on REAL hugs and all the family gave her what she wanted.

Seaside Ink Free page

I have a friend who has a birthday on Anzac Day – how lucky her friends are never working on her birthday!  We joined her family to celebrate the occasion with a twilight sail.  It was a perfect Perth evening and such a happy time.  How fortuitous that Close To My Heart has the Seaside papers (X7192b) and Complements stickers (X7192c)!   They were perfect for my photos.

Twilight Sail

I based this layout on the Clean Dimension layout on pages 102-103 of the Cherish How To Book (9038)  I love how easy it is to create the basic design of the page using the book and then personalise it for your photos.  This book has 50 double pages layout designs and sells for just $20.

Australasian October 2014 Stamp of the Month Blog Hop S1410 Home for the Holidays

SOTM Oct 2014

I’m looking forward to making all my Christmas gift tags with this stamp set but the one stamp that really grabbed my attention this time around is the “dreaming, believing, wishing” sentiment.  Yesterday marked the close of a year long campaign for an incentive I have been working towards.  I have been dreaming of taking my husband to Hawaii on a trip paid for by Close To My Heart.  I believed it was possible and I think we’ve done it.  I have to wait for official confirmation to come through so can’t celebrate right this minute.

Sweet Success

The good news is, even if I don’t get the trip, I have enjoyed a year of sweet successes.  I passed many milestones and achieved PB’s; I’ve welcomed many beautiful ladies into my team; I’ve helped team members grow their personal businesses and I’ve shown lots of people ‘How To’ scrapbook, stamp, make cards, use the Cricut and lots more creative stuff.

Now, lets talk about the page!  The cute little lollies on the stamp set caught my eye and went with my title.

I wanted to have some pop on this page and for my embellishments to reflect a little of what I’ve learnt creatively over the last year so I decided to make my sweets 3D.  The CTMH Score Board (Z1937) was my perfect tool for the job. Begin with a 1 1/2″ square and score on every line of the score board.  Concertina the folds and wrap a bit of twine around the middle.  Trim ends of twine and stick the lolly on top using Liquid Glass (Z679).

Next I wanted to use the Candy Cane stamp to create a garland for the sweets to sit on.  Here’s my page of experiments.

I decided on the last one but I could think of uses for the other designs on different projects.  Next up was some photo mounts.  I love the little Polar Bear stamp but he didn’t fit my theme so I decided to cover him over.  I was able to keep the design of the frame (using my Cricut) and stamp in the colours of my layout.  Next, I needed journaling space.  I went with the bauble shape to match my sentiment but the stark white shape was a little too dominant on the page.  Second generation stamping provided a subtle background for my writing and I like the way the sentiment was repeated on the page.  You will notice in my final page above that the red didn’t make the cut – it was too hard to see my writing on this colour.

Sweet successThe last thing my page needed was a title.  This layout was largely copied from one on pp30-31 of the Cherish How To Book and I loved their title so basically re-created it using my Cricut and scraps of paper.

6x4 Facebook posts - Page 005

There you go!  Christmas stamps don’t have to be used for Christmas pages 🙂

The Home for the Holidays Stamp of the Month is only available during the month of October.  Full retail price is $27 (S1410) but why pay that much when you can get it for just $5 with an accompanying $75 order? Visit your consultant’s website to place your order or write your wish list.

Feel free to leave a comment or share this blog post with friends before you hop over to Britt’s Blog to see what she has created.

CTMH Business Kit

Artistic Adventure Begins

It was so exciting to be part of the North American CTMH Convention in June.  The stage looked gorgeous and changed each day.  Mandy & I were able to have a quick photo on it the first day.  I wanted a simple layout for these photos as it marks the beginning of the Convention chapter in my album.

Artistic Adventure

The focus is on the Paper Fundamentals range in all my classes this month and this page features the Adventure Assortment (Z2032) of these papers.  I just love the happy colours in it and chose Lagoon, Honey, Sunset and Crystal Blue for the layout.  Crystal Blue is in the Whimsy pack… it just snuck onto the page and had to stay!  You will find the pattern and instructions for this page in Make It From Your Heart, Vol 2: Pattern 4 (Left page)

Artisitc Adventure - Page 003

I wanted the embellishments to be ‘soft’ for this layout.  The Brushed Complements (X7190C) were perfect.  Not only did the colours work with the photos and cardstock, but the stickers are actually vellum so they blended nicely on the page.  When I wanted them to stand out a bit more, I layered them on White Daisy Cardstock and fussy cut around them.

Artisitc Adventure - Page 002

I was making this page at a consultant crop event and one of the ladies said, “It’s a shame we don’t have Green Shimmer Trim.”  I thought about the fact we can colour clear sparkles with our Alcohol markers and wondered aloud if we could do the same to Silver Shimmer Trim.  The answer is “YES”.  That led to some playing and all 3 of these shimmer trims are  silver, coloured with alcohol markers.  Neat isn’t it?

My tips would be to press lightly using the chisel tip end of the markers and go over it more than once.  Blot off excess ink with a scrap of paper before placing on your page.  Run your pen on scrap paper to be sure no specks of glitter are caught in it’s fibres.

Happy Scrappin’
