Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and hopping until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring the A Little Bit of Pun (S1712) stamp set which is December’s Stamp of the Month.

CTMH December Stamp of the Month is 'A Little Bit of Pun'. Super cute for cards. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

The cute line drawings teamed with funny puns are perfectly suited to card making.  Something to make the recipient smile for sure.  The first thing I did was cut the sentiments away from the drawing so I could use them in a wider variety of ways.

Recognise a person's achievements with a card made using 'A Little Bit of Pun by Close To My Heart. December's Stamp of the month can be ordered at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au
These recognition cards were sent to members of my team who have been working hard and growing their businesses over the past month.  Enchantment Fundamentals provided the spot paper and the rest is plain cardstock.  Stamping the sentiment repeatedly creates the look of a patterned paper.  You can see now why I cut the sentiment away from the drawing.

The pattern on the red Cricut cut shape was made using a background stamp that comes in the You Are Here Cricut collection.

Cut gift tags made using 'A Little Bit of Pun' stamps, Basic Tags and Basic Banners Thin cuts. All available to purchase at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au.

I have been making all my Christmas gifts again this year and these tags will be part of a collection I am gifting to a friend.  They were so quick to make using cardstock scraps.  The tags are cut using the largest dies in the Basic Banner and Basic Tags Thin Cuts sets.  You could colour them but I think they are fine as they are.
A Little Bit of Pun (S1712) is available to purchase for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order during December, 2017.  It can also be purchased for $27 as a single item. Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant.  If you don’t have a consultant, you are welcome to visit my website to place an order.

This is a beautiful set of diverse blooms, ideal for those of you who enjoy colouring.  My favourite sentiment on this set is “You’re a whole lot of wonderful“.  I have so many awesome women in my life who deserve a card with that phrase on it.  I also love the little Forget-me-nots to the left of ‘Thank You’.  Did you know they are the symbol for Alzheimer’s suffers?

s1612-layout

Today’s layout keeps the flowers as outline drawings.  The photos of my friend Tanya’s gorgeous shop, Cotton Rose, were so vibrant I didn’t want the stamps competing with them.

A subtle hint of colour around and on the stamps was achieved as follows:

  • Cut 2″ circles from White Daisy cardstock and add sponging around the edges using a dauber and Lemon Ink.  Working on the All Purpose Mat makes clean up easy.
  • Stamp flowers using Memento Black ink.
  • Using dauber again, add a ‘smudge’ of colour to flower centres.
  • Bitty Sparkles also add some dimension.
  • Sprinkle a few Green Triangles between the circles to give a hint of foliage.

You will find a list of the products used on the layout at the end of this post.

Thoughtful Flowers (S1612) is only available during December, 2016.  Full retail price is $27 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order. Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant.

Who can resist these gorgeous Christmas shapes with their intricate designs?  Stamp and colour them to really personalise each design or do as I have and keep them uncoloured. Today’s layout features non-traditional Christmas colours.  I just love the Adventure Cardstock colours with Christmas stamps this year – so fun and a bit different.

s1610-yuletide-joy-layout

This layout will feature photos of our first Christmas gathering to include my son’s girlfriend.  How fabulous it is to have 6 in our family to celebrate with now.  I used versamark ink and white embossing powder to really make the stocking and star designs pop.

s1610-yuletide-joy-page-002

All About The Gold Fundamentals are clear 12″ x 12″ overlays with gold patterns printed on them.  A strip of the diagonal stripe provided the anchor to hang my stockings on.  The title is one of our new Thin Cuts – Christmas.  I love this font.

s1610-yuletide-joy-page-003

The star is also gorgeous in this stamp set and made a nice focal point for this embellishment cluster placed diagonally opposite the title to help frame the page.

You will find details of the products used on the layout at the end of this post.

S1609 Blessed Beyond Measure Australasian Blog Hop

Welcome to the September Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop.  This is a circular hop.  If you arrived from Lauren’s Blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and ‘hopping’ until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Blessed Beyond Measure (S1609) stamp set which is September’s Stamp of the Month.

S1609

At first glance this stamp set appears limiting but once you start playing all sorts of fun stuff magically appears!  As an Aussie, I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving but I am very thankful for many things in my life.  Today I’ve focused on the awesome women in Close To My Heart’s Australasian Leadership team.  We share so much between us – supporting and encouraging one another.  Twice a year we spend a full day together learning and creating.  These days also include a beautiful lunch, recognition and the company of our Home Office staff.

S1609 layout

Today’s page and card features a Recessed Panel.  This is a strip of card, the same colour as your background that you have stamped and adhered behind a gap in the design. It saves having to mask off areas and is super quick to do.

Left Hand Page:

  1. To create the page trim a 1 1/2″ strip from  one side of your base cardstock and random stamp on this.  I used the NEW Willow and Raspberry inks.  Oh my goodness!  These inkpads should come with a warning – you will want to replace all your existing ink pads once you’ve used them.
  2. Next cut a 1 1/4″ strip from one long side of the base cardstock (this cut should run in the same direction as your previous cut).  This piece is the one shown on far left of layout.
  3. Cut 2 strips 1/2″ x 12″ from contrast paper.  Adhere these to the BACK of the base card pieces, either side of the gap that will be filled by the random stamped piece.  You want just 1/4″ of each strip showing on the front.
  4. Using your Versamat for sizing, glue the stamped strip behind the 2 base cardstock pieces so the finished layout measures 12″ x 12″

Right Hand Page:

  1. Repeat step 1  above but your strip will be 2″
  2. Repeat step 2 above but you will cut off 2″
  3. As above
  4. As above
S1609 - Page 003

This is what it looks like from the back.

S1609 - Page 002

You can also use this technique on cards.  For the card, you stamp directly on the front of the card in the area that will be recessed and cut panels to cover left and right of the stamping.  Coloured strips are narrower and you can raise the panels on foam tape for a more recessed look.  I added extra little berries on the panels as they looked a bit plain.

Welcome to the August Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop.  This is a circular hop.  If you arrived from Maz’s Blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and ‘hopping’ until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Purr-fect Halloween (S1608) stamp set which is August’s Stamp of the Month.

Perr-fect Halloween

I love this set because it has a cat on it – I will be sure to use it with photos of my gorgeous fur baby, Sandy.  Today however, I want to share a layout that has nothing to do with cats or Halloween. I love to take a themed stamp set and turn it into something different so I had a really good look at all the gorgeous small stamps in this set.  Here’s what I came up with as I played one night.SOTM 0816 - Page 002

I can see so many possibilities using these small stamps as accents and borders on your pages.  Here’s how I used a few of them.

SOTM 0816 page

It’s a very simple layout because the photos are quite busy.  I have used two of Close To My Heart’s NEW cardstock colours, Tangerine (X5786) and Sea Glass (X5789) along with one of the totally delicious sheets the NEW All About the Gold Fundamentals (Z3246).  These are 12″ x 12″ clear overlays with gold foil designs – so pretty!  Hold them in place with micro glue dots (Z2089).

SOTM 0816 - Page 001

The pretty frame in Purr-fect Halloween made a purr-fect title box when I heat embossed it with gold powder and stamped using the NEW Pen Pal Alphabet (B1539)

Did you spot those cat eyes used as a frame for my journaling?  Check out the lovely black ribbon too – it has pretty gold threads on the edges and is part of the 3 roll set of NEW ribbons called Uptown Ribbon Pack (Z3289).  These are sure to become your go to ribbons this year.

Purr-fect Halloween (S1608) is only available during August, 2016.  Full retail price is $27 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order. Place your order with your CTMH Consultant.

Welcome to the Australasian Last Chance SE1 Blog Hop.  This is a circular hop.  If you arrived from Wendy’s Blog you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and ‘hopping’ until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring products from the Seasonal Expressions 1 Catalogue from Close To My Heart.  All the papers and stamps in this catalogue will retire on April 30 and may sell out before that date.  If you see something you like along the hop, place your order ASAP to avoid disappointment.

The Beach Days Stamp Set is a firm favourite for me.  We spend a lot of time on the coast of Western Australia and these whimsical critters and accents are perfect for my pages.

Beach Days (D1684) Retiring April 30, 2016

All the shapes outlined in red can be cut from the Artistry Cricut Cartridge (Z3190).  This made it a breeze to add lots of individual shapes to the first layout.  It was  fun to position the crabs and octopus playing with beach balls.  The retiring Regatta Papers (X7206B) were perfect for these photos.

Beach Days - Page 001

The second layout uses the title frame from the stamp set along with a surfboard cut from the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge (Z3169) and floral accents from the retiring Regatta Complements (X7206C).  Whimsy Fundamentals helped the photos of this amazing sculpture ‘pop’ on the page.  Fundamentals are not retiring but you need them in your stash because they are soooo versatile ♥

Welcome to the April Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop.  This is a circular hop.  If you arrived from  Vandra’s Blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and ‘hopping’ until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Life In Pictures (S1604) stamp set which is April’s Stamp of the Month.

s1604

I think everyone of us needs this set in our craft room.

Our fridge door photo gallery was looking very tired.  Mismatched magnets holding photos and covering some of the image, fingerprints and smears on some photos and no sense of how important the photos are to us.  So!  I created my own magnetic fridge frames.

Life in pictures - Page 002

Use Paper Fundamentals because the paper is decorative and heavy weight so it won’t curl or tear easily.  Cut a piece 5 1/2″ x 7 1/2″ and cut a 4 1/4″ slit 3/4″ down from one short end.  Use the measurement guides on your 12″ trimmer to make this easy.

Life in pictures fridge frames - Page 001

Take a 4″ x 6″ Flip Flap (Z4114) and trim off the adhesive strip.  You want the side that had the adhesive strip to be higher than the other side of the pocket.

Life in pictures fridge frames - Page 002

Centre the flip flp on the front of the Fundamentals Paper, making sure the lower edge side of the Flip Flap is glued to the paper and that this edge lines up with the slit you cut.

Slide your photo into the Flip Flap.  Use Shimmer Trim around the edges of the Flip Flap to hold it in place and highlight your photo.  Add decorative elements as desired.  Corner round the frame if that takes your fancy.

When you want to update your photos you can slide the orignal out and replace it with a new one.

Life in pictures fridge frames - Page 007

In these samples, watercolour paint was used on watercolour paper.   The paint was allowed to dry and then the images were stamped using Memento Black ink (Z899) for all the sentiments and some of the cameras.   Other cameras were stamped first and then painted with a watercolour wash afterwards.  Each gives a slightly different effect.

Your last task is to recycle those magnets you were using and stick them to the back of your frame.  Liquid Glass (Z679) is perfect for the job!

Life in pictures - Page 001

Super easy and lots of fun.  This would make a great holiday project to do with the kids.  Why not make a set for a Mothers Day Gift?

Life In Pictures (S1604) is only available during April, 2016.  Full retail price is $27 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order. Place your order with your CTMH Consultant.
