Whilst visiting California Adventure we came across Goofy conducting an imaginary orchestra. He was very funny and then I realised the fountains behind him were synchronised with the music. Very cool. I just had to dedicate a page to his antics.
This layout is based on one called, appropriately, “Performance”. You will find it on p48 of the CTMH Magic How To book. (9040) The papers are this month’s featured collection – Paper Fundamentals and these colours come from the Adventure Assortment pack (Z2032)
I cut the border on my Cricut and used white enamel stars (Z2010). They got a bit lost on the page so I coloured them in with my Shin Han Markers – much happier with that now!
I am more than a little bit in love with the Chevron Border Punch (Z1998) and just had to add it to this page too. I cut strips 1/4″ wide to thread through the border and give it a different look. The white stars got a make over again – in red this time.
I thought the page was finished at this point but there was a dead spot in the lower left corner. A quick flick through the Cricut Artbooking booklet and I found the perfect embellishment. Isn’t this Ferris wheel so cute? Did you know you can get a Cricut cartridge for half price as a hostess? All you need are a couple of friends who want to make a card or page, $300 in orders and you qualify! Click here or more information on the awesome rewards you can earn as a hostess.
Have you ever read or heard the story of ‘Warm Fuzzies’? When I was a teacher I would read this story to my class and have everyone decorate a paper bag with pictures & words relating to their personality. Througout the day, other students would write a small note of encouragement or affirmation and secretly slip it into the bag. This was a “Warm Fuzzy”. You should have seen the delight on their faces when their bag had a warm fuzzy in it. The kids would go out of their way to see good things in each other so everyone recieved a warm fuzzy each day.
I was reminded of this story when I made this cute door hanger using the Artiste Cartridge for the Cricut and realised it had a pocket. Wouldn’t it be fun to make one for each bedroom in your house and encourage the exchange of warm fuzzies? Grandies could have them on doors for when the little ones visit.
Click here to read the original story by Claude M. Steiner or here to read an adaptation of it. I have never run out of warm fuzzies and I get so many in return. I hope you do too.
It was so exciting to be part of the North American CTMH Convention in June. The stage looked gorgeous and changed each day. Mandy & I were able to have a quick photo on it the first day. I wanted a simple layout for these photos as it marks the beginning of the Convention chapter in my album.
The focus is on the Paper Fundamentals range in all my classes this month and this page features the Adventure Assortment (Z2032) of these papers. I just love the happy colours in it and chose Lagoon, Honey, Sunset and Crystal Blue for the layout. Crystal Blue is in the Whimsy pack… it just snuck onto the page and had to stay! You will find the pattern and instructions for this page in Make It From Your Heart, Vol 2: Pattern 4 (Left page)
I wanted the embellishments to be ‘soft’ for this layout. The Brushed Complements (X7190C) were perfect. Not only did the colours work with the photos and cardstock, but the stickers are actually vellum so they blended nicely on the page. When I wanted them to stand out a bit more, I layered them on White Daisy Cardstock and fussy cut around them.
I was making this page at a consultant crop event and one of the ladies said, “It’s a shame we don’t have Green Shimmer Trim.” I thought about the fact we can colour clear sparkles with our Alcohol markers and wondered aloud if we could do the same to Silver Shimmer Trim. The answer is “YES”. That led to some playing and all 3 of these shimmer trims are silver, coloured with alcohol markers. Neat isn’t it?
My tips would be to press lightly using the chisel tip end of the markers and go over it more than once. Blot off excess ink with a scrap of paper before placing on your page. Run your pen on scrap paper to be sure no specks of glitter are caught in it’s fibres.
Our USA convention for Close To My Heart was held in Disneyland, California. A good friend and sister consultant, Mandy Ellery, travelled with me for the event. We added some time either side for fun. This page shows how brave we were going on the Tea Cups ride in Fantasyland. Neither of us like scary rides so we decided to be big kids and do all the tame rides.
The newly released Paper Fundamentals are proving the perfect accompaniment for these photos. Their bright, shiny side adds some zing to the layout and the patterned side adds highlights. This layout features Juniper and Thistle, a new colour, from the Whimsy Assortment pack (Z2033) Click here to see all the papers in the Fundamentals range.
You will find full instructions and cutting diagrams for this layout on page 20-21 of the Cherish How To Book (9038). My title was stamped using the Framework Alphabet stamps(E1027) which I coloured with the NEW Shin Han Alcohol Markers. The Peony Purple (Z2462) was a perfect colour match for Thistle and then I layered two colours to create the Juniper colour in the title – Pastel Green (z2459) and Turquoise Blue (Z2465)
I had the great pleasure of running my 12th Annual Duchess Retreat for 24 ladies this past weekend. My sister runs it with me and we treasure this time together. We proclaimed ourselves Duchesses 12 years ago when we decided our camp would be based on a series of challenges, like the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The challenges can be simple but there are always a couple that stretch croppers skills just a little (or a lot if you ask some!).
I look forward to this weekend of creating, laughter and hijinks as much as my customers and team members do and always arrive home on a high, love cup overflowing and so thankful to have such fabulous women in my life.
This year my good friend, Rose, was our chef and we enjoyed homemade gourmet treats all weekend. Friday night is always Frock Night and the ladies excelled this year, scouring op shops across Australia for frocks with just the right level of hilarity.
I kept the layout simple so the Duchess outfits could shine. You will notice 2 products that aren’t in the current ideas book. The Better with a Friend Stamp Set is in our NEW Ideas Book launching August 1 and is one of the Exclusive Hostess Rewards stamps. These glamorous gals are coloured using the blending pen (3174) and Exclusive Inks. I’d love to show you how. Why not invite a few friends over for a free class to play with this set and then you can purchase this stamp set with your Hostess Reward dollars.
The other new product on the page is the Chevron Border Punch (Z1998). This was a firm favourite over the weekend. A strip of shimmer trim behind it really adds some zing to the page. Click here to see all the shimmer trim colours available. Be sure to check out my website on August 1 to view the online Ideas Book & Catalogue. http://shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

We just love walking around cities and looking up – all sorts of architectural delights await when you raise your eyes above the shop fronts.
For this layout I chose the Paper Fundamentals Basic Assortment Papers (Z1939). They have a monotone, glossy resist pattern on one side a pattern on the other. Both sides accept ink around the edges.
I accented my page with Wood Grain Washi tape (Z1930). For this effect, simply stick a little down, double a bit onto itself and then stick the next little bit down. It’s another technique where perfection is not required – it looks better if it’s a little uneven.
The title was cut on the Cricut. These letters are cut from the circle so it’s easy to add them to the page.
This month you can purchase a Delightful Ribbon & Trim Collection which includes 6 rolls of Washi Tape and other fun embellishments for just $30 with a $75 order. The Washi Tape alone is worth $47 and we will be using it at Duchess Retreat this year. I’ll also be featuring these products in my Strips and Stripes workshop on July 9. Comment below if you need details for either event.

I bought the Cityscape Stamp Set (C1563) with these photos in mind and I am thrilled with the way the page turned out. We were having one of our ‘Tourist in our own town’ days and exploring the newly opened Brookfield Plaza. I wanted a very simple layout as the photos had lots of detail within them.
The NEW Paper Fundamentals Basics Assortment (Z1939) was perfect for the pages. This set features double sided papers that are embossed and shiny on one side and 2 toned on the other. I’m on my second pack already!
To finish off, I felt the page needed dedicated journaling boxes. My new best friend, Cricut, came to the rescue. I resized photo mats from the Artbooking cartridge (Z1906) and wrote where the photo would normally go. This was a fun page to make. I loved playing with the stamps of the buildings and can see myself having some fun with this set.
