Welcome to the CTMH Australasian These Are My People Blog Hop.  This hop features the artwork of some talented women from across Australia and New Zealand.

If you arrived from  Doris’s Blog, Creative Inspirations, you are in the right place.  If this is your first time on a blog hop simply read on and enjoy my creations.  If you like what I show today, please subscribe to my blog, leave a comment on this post or share it on social media. Then you click on the link at the end of this post and it will take you to the next blog and so on and so on. Easy and fun! Best part- you can see several different projects you can create with Close To My Heart’s These Are My People collection!   When you land back here, you are done and it’s time to hit the scrapbook room for some crafting fun.

The These Are My People collection includes a 12×12 Cut Above Kit, a paper pack, stickers, co-ordinating cardstock and a stamp set.  You can purchase items individually or as a bundle.  There is also a downloadable instruction handout filled with inspiration for 2 layouts, 2 single pages and 13 cards.  Be sure to save this handout so you can replicate the patterns over and over in different paper packs.  When you switch the papers, they will suit different people in your life. The handout is available until March 31, 2020 on the Promotions Tab of your consultant’s website.

Who are your people?

This collection is all about honouring the important people in your life. Who is missing from your scrapbooks? For me, it is my aunts and uncles that I wish to focus on for the layouts I’m making this month. I have very few layouts that include them as we live on opposite sides of the country.

These gorgeous people are my mum’s siblings. Together, they are a shining example of people who did not let their early life circumstances keep them down. They were funny, caring, loving and always supportive of each other. The three photos were taken over a 30 year period.

I plan for this to be the opening layout in a chapter all about them. Following layouts will focus on individuals and what they taught me about life in general and family in particular.

The journalling on this layout is an example of Story by Stacy Short Story. Following pages will use the Stories I love journalling style.

Create a bold page title

The title was created using Thin Cuts. I love the shape of the Stitched Bracket Thin cuts. The actual shapes were used in a kit project for my customers but the leftover strip was a perfect place to frame the letters created with Close To My Heart’s newest ABC/123 dies – Classic Alphabet Thin Cuts.

Cut the letters from scraps and stick to the layout. Then outline each letter with a black journalling pen. Work slowly and you will find it easy to follow the shape of the letter.

Add stamping to your printed paper

The soft peach spots on this print are lovely but did not provide enough contrast on the page. By adding a stamped flower to each spot a bolder look was created.

Stamped embellishments complete the layout

The bluebird chevron pattern is created by repeatedly stamping this small stamp. This creates a border to frame the photos on the layout. ‘Love these people‘ is the perfect phrase to use as a title and can also be found on the stamp set with this collection

Order your supplies this month

The These Are My People collection is only available to purchase for a limited time.  Order yours on your consultant’s website before April 30.  If you do not have a consultant, please visit my website for full details. A list of products used on my layout appears at the end of this post.

Oh My Heart Collection

Standard
Close To My Heart’s Oh My Heart collection is available through to Feb 29, 2020 https://shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au/

The Oh My Heart collection includes a paper pack, stickers, co-ordinating cardstock and a stamp set.  You can purchase items individually or as a bundle.  There is also a downloadable instruction handout filled with inspiration for 1 layout, 1 single page and 40 cards.  Be sure to save this handout so you can replicate the patterns over and over in different paper packs.  When you switch the sentiments out or flip the papers over they transform from Valentines to any theme you desire.

I love KAWS scrapbook layout

Valentines isn’t something we celebrate in my family but I think the papers are just beautiful.  Today’s project is a 2 page layout about the KAWS exhibition we viewed in Melbourne last year.  KAWS is a street artist who expanded to all sorts of amazing art.  We loved it!

The design was inspired by a layout I completed at January’s CTMH Album Retreat.

Close To My Heart’s Oh My Heart collection is available through to Feb 29, 2020 https://shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au/

The Oh My Heart papers fit the photos because several have pops of pink in them.  The heart theme suits KAWS grey sculptures which depict a range of emotions.  I love it when the papers enhance the overall them of my photos.

Fitting many photos on a layout is easier if you print them smaller.  Most of these photos are 2” x 3”. Mounting all the photos helps them to stand out against the white background.

The Celebrate Today Scrapbooking stamp set provided the grid, date banner and title flags for this layout,

Close To My Heart’s Oh My Heart collection is available through to Feb 29, 2020 https://shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au/

An extra bit of texture and colour contrast is achieved by stamping a black border using the Build a Plaid stamp set.

Welcome to the CTMH Australasian Celebrate Today Blog Hop.  This hop features the artwork of some talented women from across Australia and New Zealand.

Best part- you can see several different projects you can create with Close To My Heart’s Celebrate Today collection!   When you land back here, you are done and it’s time to hit the scrapbook room for some crafting fun.

We have so much to Celebrate Today!

Close To My Heart’s Celebrate Today collection adapts brilliantly to a variety of scrapbook themes and card designs. Order your collection at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au before the end of February 2020

This bright collection is a party in a bag, ready to burst forth and make your scrapbook pages dazzle.  You have kit options for scrapbooking and card making plus the option to purchase papers, co-ordinating cardstock, Pocket scrapbook cards and Vellum Die-cuts as individual items.  Everything works together so you can focus on the fun of reliving life’s magical moments and telling the stories in your albums.

Two ways to use the Celebrate Today scrapbooking workshop kit

Today’s layouts are all made from the Celebrate Today scrapbook workshop kit, pictured above.  There are so many really different and interesting die-cuts in this kit that few of us would take the time to make from scratch.

Close To My Heart’s Celebrate Today collection adapts brilliantly to a variety of scrapbook themes and card designs. Order your collection at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au before the end of February 2020

When you purchase a Close To My Heart scrapbook kit, you receive all the supplies needed to make 6 pages following the printed instructions that come in the kit.  At times, when you are short on time or creative inspiration, following the cutting diagrams and assembly instructions exactly will be a perfect fit.

For those feeling creative, the other option is to pull out ALL the pieces in the kit, use the sample layouts as inspiration and just play!  That’s how today’s sample layouts came to be.

Turn a single layout into a double

When you have lots of photos to scrapbook, one page just isn’t enough.  Fortunately there are plenty of decorative elements on the single pages in this kit that can easily expand to cover two pages.

Close To My Heart’s Celebrate Today collection adapts brilliantly to a variety of scrapbook themes and card designs. Order your collection at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au before the end of February 2020

The first double page uses all those lovely die-cut circles and the yo-yo strips.  Rather than make the 3D yo-yo elements, place the strips flat on your pages.  Quick and easy!

Close To My Heart’s Celebrate Today collection adapts brilliantly to a variety of scrapbook themes and card designs. Order your collection at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au before the end of February 2020

When you get to the second single page transformation you will realise the background paper is the reverse of the first layout and there isn’t an extra sheet in the kit.  Fear not, you can work on the back of the first layout for the LH page and add a different background sheet for the RH page.

Using matching zip strips across both pages and sharing the scallop border piece and stars between the two pages ties everything together nicely.

Both these layouts lend themselves to the addition of Pocket Plus protectors to fit even more photos in.  The co-ordinating Picture My Life cards will fill any empty slots and provide room for journalling.

Tone down a ‘busy’ layout

Close To My Heart’s Celebrate Today collection adapts brilliantly to a variety of scrapbook themes and card designs. Order your collection at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au before the end of February 2020

The layered balloon die-cuts in this kit are adorable but the page design may be too busy for your style.  By cutting one background sheet and spreading it over two base pages you introduce white space to calm the look a little.  The clouds were also omitted from this layout and used later.

Close To My Heart’s Celebrate Today collection adapts brilliantly to a variety of scrapbook themes and card designs. Order your collection at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au before the end of February 2020

3 of the streamers and the photo flags were left off the layout above and repurposed later.  Once again, this gives a more open look to your design.

Make a layout from the kit left overs

Close To My Heart’s Celebrate Today collection adapts brilliantly to a variety of scrapbook themes and card designs. Order your collection at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au before the end of February 2020

A little trimming of the streamers, a few extra pegs made up from spare photo mats and this very simple layout was completed quickly on mink cardstock.  February’s Stamp of the Month, Cherish Her, worked perfectly on the small photo frames and the title.

10 pages from one Celebrate Today Workshop Kit

Everything comes together easily when you start with a co-ordinated kit.  There are still enough die-cuts left to make one more layout!  What do you think?  Is this something you could see yourself doing. Why not order a kit and see how far you can take it.

Welcome to the Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop.  This is a circular hop.  If you arrived from Danni’s blog, Scrappy Chicks, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and ‘hopping’ until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Random Acts of Cardness (S1909) stamp set which is September’s Stamp of the Month.

Beautiful Sentiments

Don’t you just love the mixture of fonts and the fun way these sentiments are arranged?  They will look awesome on the inside or the outside of your cards.  As always, I challenged myself to use this cardmakers stamp set on a scrapbook layout. The friendship stamp jumped out immediately and got things rolling.

Looking through my scraps I found this white heart I had cut for a previous project.  As often happens, I changed my mind and stored it away.  Today it is perfect for my design.

To create the background stamping, begin with the open circle from Colourful Textures (D1784) using Wisteria Ink (it’s NEW).  Don’t stress about making a perfect pattern, just fill the background shape.  The sweet flower inside the circles, stamped with Saffron ink, and the little heart between them, stamped with Wisteria ink, both come from the Stamp of the month. The dots outlining the heart are made by repeatedly stamping the … in Glacier Ink.

Once you are finished stamping, use a sponge and Lilac ink to colour all over the heart.  Make the shading darker toward the bottom.  Sponging the journal box in the same manner ties the left and right pages together.

This layout will include photos of a very dear friend I am catching up with soon (that’s why the photo wells are empty!)  I knew the friendship quote needed to feature on the layout … then it became the title.  The Mix In paper pack in our newest catalogue is just lovely.  All the printed papers on this layout are part of the pack.

Add a couple of vellum butterflies from the Every Little Things Vellum Di-cuts. Colour them with TriBlend Markers to co-ordinate with your papers.

The little black dots were created using Stickles Glitter Gel.  Add these last, just before leaving the craft room, so they can dry without you accidentally smudging them.

Random Acts of Cardness (S1909) is only available during September, 2019.  Full retail price is $34 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $9 when accompanied by an $88 order. Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant.

Historical buildings scrapbook layout

As the name implies, this collection is perfect for weddings and love themed photos.  BUT, it is so much more than that!  The rich colours of the plainer prints work with so many other photo themes.  As usual, I try to show how you can step a collection out of its box and use it with any photos.

Today I am sharing a layout featuring photos of historic buildings in the Perth CBD.  We took a mini break in our own town for our anniversary this year.  Walking the streets near our hotel and looking at things as a tourist would reminded us of the rich history we have right on our doorstep.

This is a very simple layout made up of 6 strips of paper, each measuring 11 ¾” x 3 7/8”.  I cut these from the left over supplies once I had made up the True Love Standard and Deluxe Workshop Your Way kits.

You will notice all the embellishments feature journaling! These cut apart sheet banners were perfect to tell a little about each building. Mounting them on a scrap of contrasting paper helps draw the eye to the story.

Don’t be deceived by the name of this collection.  Whilst it is perfect for photos of baby girls and all things feminine, there is a masculine set of papers hidden within it!  The photos above show two of the ways you can group the papers for different looks.

Travel Photos Layout

Today I am sharing photos that have nothing to do with babies or little girls.  My photos were taken at King’s College in Cambridge.  The soft pinks and weathered greys of the sandstone work perfectly with a few prints in the Sweet Girl collection. The lighter side of New England Ivy Cardstock for the base creates contrast to the softer tones of photos and papers without overpowering them.

Adding Embellishments

First up, create the frame by trimming the woodgrain paper. Mitre the corner for a realistic look. See how the prints match nicely at the join?

Trim your background papers using a 12″ trimmer. Cut the peach photo mounts to fit your images. The foam ABC stickers make a bold heading for your page. If you would like a different colour you can colour with Shin Han markers over them whilst still on the carrier sheet. A narrow strip of woodgrain paper anchors the title and links it to the border.

Use complement stickers and die cuts along with the Stitched Quilt Shape Thin Cuts to embellish your layout. The 2 shapes I used from the thin cut set are designed to emboss another shape but I chose to fussy cut them as stand alone embellishments.

Making the page was quick. I followed the pattern in the Feels Like Home Deluxe Workshop Kit for the base design and then added photo mats to suit my image sizes. I had an idea for the embellishment clusters but wasn’t sure the stamp proportions would work. By laying the stamps face down over the layout I got a feel for how it would turn out.

Did you know Sugarplum ink comes in a pigment version too? That means you can use heat embossing powders with it. It covers well on coloured cardstock – it is stamped on Fern in the photo above and Charcoal in the photo below. All images are heat embossed with clear powder.

The 3 leafy branches are different shades of green. One is stamped with Fern ink on the light side of Fern cardstock, one on the dark side and the middle one is stamped with versamark ink on the light side and heat embossed with clear powder. These subtle colour variations are seen in nature. A few White dots, complements stickers and leaves from the cut apart sheet in the pack completed this cluster.

It’s easy to confuse Pigment and Dye based inks so always mark your pigment inks clearly to avoid using the wrong ink on a project.

Love So Sweet  (S1904) is only available during April, 2019.  Full retail price is $29.50 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $8.25 when accompanied by an $82.50 order. Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant.
