Today I am sharing a layout inspired by Make It From Your Heart Vol 1. I haven’t used this book for quite some time but it was worth re-visiting as there are many lovely layouts in it.

Have fun with the bright colours of the CTMH Central Park collection. Availalbe to purchase until Aug 31, 2018 from www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au
The bright colours in this collection perfectly complement beach photos. The workshop kit comes with alphabet stickers. They made a quick and easy title for the layout.

The cut apart PML cards provide interesting accents for your pages. There are 2 of each design.

On this one, I random stamped the cute cocktail glass from the Summer Fun Paper Doll stamp, added Clear Shimmer to the liquid, coloured the lemon and added a shadow to each glass with Shin Han marker. I freehand cut the sun from the second PML and inked it with a Lemon ink pad then layered it over the first PML using Thin 3D Dots.

Today’s layout is inspired by Pinterest. This design lets my photos stand out. The forests in Alaska are amazing and photos can’t capture the feeling of being in one but lining all my images in a row helps make the ‘largeness’ imaginable.

Decorating the banners under each photo was lots of fun.  PML Cut Apart sheet left overs from making up the Workshop Your Way layouts were a great source for different patterned papers, the journal boxes and the pine cone images. The Fresh Air card making stamps and thin cuts set was perfect for these photos too.  Doesn’t the Gold heat embossing look great on Nutmeg cardstock?  Be warned, you need to control your urge to keep adding bits to the banners as that will detracted from the photos.

I do need to finish the journaling – I can’t remember what made the mound under the tree in the last photo and hubby is on a long haul flight so I can’t ask him!!

Welcome to June’s Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop. This is a circular hop. If you arrived from Megan’s blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it. Keep reading and ‘hopping’ until you find yourself back where you started from. Each blog will showcase a project featuring the A Bushel & a Peck (S1806) stamp set which is June’s Stamp of the Month.

Close To My Heart's June Stamp of the Month, A Bushel & a Peck (S1806) can be purchased at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au during June 2018

The name of this stamp set brings back gorgeous memories of my parents teaching the song from Guys & Dolls to my kids. You can listen to Doris Day singing it here.

I will make a page to tell that story but couldn’t lay my hands on appropriate photos today.
I had a good look at the images on the stamps and went through the photos I needed to scrapbook and voila! The wind-swept leaves seemed to look like peacock feathers and I decided to make it work.

Close To My Heart's June Stamp of the Month, A Bushel & a Peck (S1806) can be purchased at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au during June 2018
After playing on some scrap paper I came up with a stamp design I liked and was thrilled to discover the Central Park papers have this gorgeous sunburst print which complemented my design perfectly.

Close To My Heart's June Stamp of the Month, A Bushel & a Peck (S1806) can be purchased at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au during June 2018
The layout is based on Pattern 4 from Make It From the Heart Vol 3. I needed to fit 22 photos and a long story on it, so had to call on my trusty Flip Flaps and Pocket Plus Protectors once again. You may spot one paper from the retired Prickly Pear collection. The colours in this pack are very similar to Central Park so I blended the two.

Close To My Heart's June Stamp of the Month, A Bushel & a Peck (S1806) can be purchased at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au during June 2018

I stamped the ‘peacock feathers’ design onto white cardstock before cutting the title letters. The ‘as a’ sign is made using the ‘apple cider’ stamp in the set. It is highly unlikely I’ll ever need this phrase but that sign is absolutely gorgeous, so I used my Micro Tip scissors to cut the words out of the stamp. I’ve kept the words if I ever do need them but I’m happier now the sign can have anything written on it.

Close To My Heart's June Stamp of the Month, A Bushel & a Peck (S1806) can be purchased at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au during June 2018

I love that every person who earned a fascinator is present on this one layout and that there was space to include the giggly photos too.

S1806 - Page 018
A Bushel & a Peck (S1806) is only available during June, 2018. Full retail price is $27 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order. Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant.

Beautiful Friendship collection from Close To My Heart. Available to purchase at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

The Beautiful Friendship collection is the first featured collection in our NEW Seasonal Expressions catalogue.  It is available for purchase until the end of August 2018.  It is my absolute favourite in this catalogue.

Beautiful Friendship collection from CTMH is available to purchase at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au until Aug, 2018
Today I am sharing a layout created from Pattern 21 in Make It From Your Heart, Vol 3.  It’s all about my husband’s surprise 60th birthday celebration.  Pink is his favourite colour to wear and he loves a good floral print shirt so this collection was perfect for the photos.

Beautiful Friendship Layout - Page 002

I had quite a bit to tell and reverted to a tried and true technique of adding journaling behind a photo in a flip flap.  Scrapbooking for me is as much about telling a story as it is about the pretty papers.

Beutiful Friendship detail - Page 011

I love creating a focal point of embellishments tied in with my journaling on a page.  Basic Numbers Thin Cuts cut in a print and a plain began the title in the top left hand corner of the page which was then continued in the lower right hand corner.  The two elements framing the photos and drawing our eyes inward.

Beautiful Friendship collection from CTMH availalbe at shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au until Aug, 2018

I love working with the Workshop Your Way Kits, making the layouts and cards.  My aim when working on the cards is to use the basic design elements but change them up in some way so each card looks a little different.  This photo shows what the original designs look like.

Beautiful Friendship WYW Card - supplies and full instructions available at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au until Aug 2018

And here are two of my variations which I love!  Adding a teapot window to the first card made it more playful . The second card has an embossed front created with the Rose embossing folder.  I LOVED painting the teapot and cups with my watercolour paints.

Welcome to the May 2018 Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop. This is a circular hop. If you arrived from Kara’s Blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it. Keep reading and hopping until you find yourself back where you started from. Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Classic Summer Bash (S1805) stamp set which is May’s Stamp of the Month.

May's Stamp of the Month is 'Classic Summer Bash' (S1805). Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

This stamp set reminds me of lazy summer days be the pool when we were young.  Lemon cordial and freshly cut fruit would be wolfed down by the hungry tribe gathered in our back yard.

When my children were 5 & 7 they travelled across Australia by themselves to visit my husband’s parents.  When they arrived home, my son produced this carefully written recipe for Grampy’s Lemon Cordial.  I found it recently when I was going through old documents.  I’m so happy it survived 20+ years!

I decided to add this recipe to my Kitchen Traditions album.  I love that I can record the story behind the recipe too.

Here are some tips to help make you maison jar drink look more realistic:

  • Stamp the jar in Pewter ink on white cardstock.  Fussy cut.
  • Shade your liquid darker near the edges of the glass. (I used Watercolour pencils)
  • Stamp ice cubes in Mink ink.  Have a couple showing above the surface of the liquid.
  • Cut a slit in the rim of the glass
  • Stamp straws with Peacock ink.  Fussy cut.
  • Cut the straws into 2 parts.  Glue lower part level with bottom of the rim and upper part behind the slit.
  • Shade the submerged part of the straws same colour as liquid to make them look like they are in it.
  • Stamp and fussy cut the lemon slices.  Cut a slit in one and position it over the edge of the rim.

Classic Summer Bash (S1805) is available to purchase for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order during May 2018. It can also be purchased for $27 as a single item. S1802 Sunny Thoughts Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog

Welcome to the February 2018 Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop. This is a circular hop. If you arrived from Megan’s Blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it. Keep reading and hopping until you find yourself back where you started from. S1802 Sunny Thoughts is CTMH's Stamp of the Month for February 2018. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au
The sentiments and images on this stamp set are perfectly sized for pages AND cards. The circular sentiment, “You are the sunshine in my pocket” can be cut with the 2 ½” Basic Circles Thin Cut.

S1802 Sunny Thoughts is CTMH's Stamp of the Month for February 2018. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au
My layout today features a photo of my daughter with my mum. They don’t get to see each other often and this is such a lovely snap that I wanted to have it on display in my craft room. I decided to print the photo in Black and White so it stands out on the page.

S1802 Sunny Thoughts is CTMH's Stamp of the Month for February 2018. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

First up, trace around a bowl to get the circular shape for the leaves. Then trim the Daisy White Cardstock down to an 11”” square.

The hearts in opposite corners are sponged and stamped. Cut templates using the Basic Hearts Thin Cuts and scrap cardstock. Be sure to erase the section of pencil line before sponging or you will see it through the ink in the finished layout.

The large hearts are sponged with Sweet leaf ink and the small one is in Blossom ink. Keeping the templates in place, stamp over the sponging in the opposite colours using the hearts image from the Banner Love stamp set.

S1802 Sunny Thoughts is CTMH's Stamp of the Month for February 2018. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

Once the hearts are complete you can stamp the vines. To get the right curve of the stamp, simply place your block over the pencil line and shape the stamp on the block to match the curve. You have to put the stamp with top of vine image where you want the bottom of the image because once you turn the block over the curve is the opposite. The is hard to explain but once you try it, you will see what I mean. Again, be sure to erase the sections of pencil line before you stamp each time.

S1802 Sunny Thoughts is CTMH's Stamp of the Month for February 2018. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.auS1802 Sunny Thoughts - Page 001

To complete the page, stamp small flowers in Versamark Ink and heat emboss with Gold embossing powder. A few blooms in Blossom ink give the cluster a lift. Stamp the ‘Love’ sentiment from the What Matters Most stamp set over the lower heart. A small section on the Hearts Border Thin Cuts provides the heart strip accents and the tiny hearts near the flowers.

Finally, layer the base page and photo on Blossom and Gold Foil cardstock. If you cut the centre from both sheets you will have enough for the photo mount without needing a second sheet. Reverse the Blossom to the lighter side for the photo frame as the dark side dominates a Black and White photo too much. It’s such a bonus having two toned cardstock at times like this!
Sunny Thoughts (S1802) is available to purchase for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order during February 2018. It can also be purchased for $27 as a single item. Welcome to the CTMH Australasian Chelsea Gardens Blog Hop. This hop features the artwork of some amazing and talented women from across Australia. If you arrived from Maz’s blog you are in the right place. If this is your first time on a blog hop simply read on, enjoy my creations and maybe share some love in the comments. Then you click on the link at the end of this post and it will take you to the next blog and so on and so on. Easy and fun! Best part- you can see lots of different projects you can create with Close To My Heart’s Chelsea Gardens collection! When you land back here, you are done and it’s time to hit the craft room for some paperific fun.

The Chelsea Gardens collection is available until the end of April, 2018.  You have the choice of 2 kits – one for scrapbooking and one for cards – OR you can purchase papers, complements, ribbon  and gems separately

Today I am sharing 3 cards and a layout created from the Sending Hugs Cardmaking Kit.

This is one of the 2 card designs featured in the kit.  You receive printed instructions with your kit that detail cutting, placement, stamping and embellishment information.  The kit has enough supplies to make 12 cards.

The Sending Hugs Cardmaking Kit (G1150) from Close To My Heart makes 12 cards with leftover supplies for some scrapbook pages. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au
The original design uses Heather ink for the wreath but I wanted to make it more colourful so I stamped in Sweetleaf ink.  Then I coloured the centres of each flower with the ocean watercolour pencil and blended it using the Clear Shimmer Brush.  I also added shimmer to the printed flowers and blooms on the background paper.  It is soooo pretty!  The next photos shows a bit of the sparkle.

The Sending Hugs Cardmaking Kit (G1150) from Close To My Heart makes 12 cards with leftover supplies for some scrapbook pages. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

Next up I swapped out the ink colours and used the Welcome Baby sentiment from the For You Darling stamp set.  I also used part of the border stamp that comes with the Sending Hugs kit to decorate the edges of the wreath element.

The Sending Hugs Cardmaking Kit (G1150) from Close To My Heart makes 12 cards with leftover supplies for some scrapbook pages. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

For the third variation, I made the card portrait and dropped the striped piece lower.  I used the border stamp to create my own design on the white cardstock and then used the small flower and leaves from the stamp set to create my own decorative element.

Chelsea Gardens cardmaking kit - Page 005

The leaves were coloured with Citrus Leaf watercolour pencil and the flowers were simply filled in using the NEW Bashful Shimmer Brush.  I used masking on my stamping and fussy cut the grouped images.

The Sending Hugs Cardmaking Kit (G1150) from Close To My Heart makes 12 cards with leftover supplies for some scrapbook pages. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

I decided to use this card design to make a layout too.  It was super easy – I just extended each piece to be 12″ long.

The Sending Hugs Cardmaking Kit (G1150) from Close To My Heart makes 12 cards with leftover supplies for some scrapbook pages. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

I wanted to pick up on the pink in the photographed flowers so I used the Bashful Shimmer Brush to colour the white flowers on the floral print.  The floral wreath provide space for a title.  Pen Pal Alphabet stamps are only 1/4″ high and worked perfectly for the small space.

The Sending Hugs Cardmaking Kit (G1150) from Close To My Heart makes 12 cards with leftover supplies for some scrapbook pages. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

Every layout needs journaling.  These photos were all from the same weekend but not all taken at the same time or event so I numbered the photos and bullet point journaled to give the information about them.  I wrote the wrong name for the hotel so just stuck a correction over the top of it – it’s not perfect but you really don’t notice it when looking at the full layout.
