Use For My Beautiful Friend to make Paper Candy

What’s Paper Candy? It’s pre-made embellishments ready to add to cards or scrapbook pages.  If you feel like experimenting with a new technique or tool you can make a number of samples that can then be applied to projects.

My face to face and online  workshops this month are focusing on using tags so most of my paper candy has a tag as a base.  The papers are from the latest Mix In pack (X9017) so I know they will blend with Summer Vibes and Timber – the two collections in the July/August catalogue.

All the colouring has been done with Shimmer Brushes.  They come in 17 different colours and are super easy to use. Simply brush lightly over the paper to add colour and glitter at the same time.

Heat embossing helps images stand out on darker or patterned backgrounds.

When you stamp images on cardstock, fussy cut close to the outline and pop them up on foam dots, you add dimension to the paper candy.

Three ways to use your Paper Candy

Now you have options!

  1. Create a simple card background for your candy and add a stamped sentiment
  2. Add candy to a layout as part of a larger cluster including stickers or a title.
  3. Fill a 3” x 4” photo well to create your own PML card.

Welcome to the Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop.  This is a circular hop.  If you arrived from Dannii’s Blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and ‘hopping’ until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Garden Tags (S2005) stamp set which is June’s Stamp of the Month from Close To My Heart.

Add Garden Tags to your pages and cards

These adorable tags can be used as is, simply stamp and cut, add your message to the back and pop it on a gift! Alternatively, add tags as embellishments on bigger projects.

Tags make perfect embellishments on scrapbook pages

This very simple layout is dressed up by the addition of 3 of the Garden Tags and a few Blue Skies stamps. Make the borders by first layering an 11 1/4″ x 6″ piece of Lemonade embossed cardstock on a 12″ x 6 3/4″ piece of Sapphire. Then cut at 4 3/8″. Add border stamps alonside the cut edge and then add the tags.

Colour your Garden Tags

With so many colours to choose from, Shimmer Brushes make it super quick and easy to colour your images. They have a brush nib and leave a little sparkle along with the colour!

Finish off with accents from the Blue Skies Stamp Set

Fun tags, corners corners and titles are all found on this set. Experiment with placing them on journal boxes and page background.
