Welcome to the CTMH Australasian Chelsea Gardens Blog Hop. This hop features the artwork of some amazing and talented women from across Australia. If you arrived from Maz’s blog you are in the right place. If this is your first time on a blog hop simply read on, enjoy my creations and maybe share some love in the comments. Then you click on the link at the end of this post and it will take you to the next blog and so on and so on. Easy and fun! Best part- you can see lots of different projects you can create with Close To My Heart’s Chelsea Gardens collection! When you land back here, you are done and it’s time to hit the craft room for some paperific fun.

The Chelsea Gardens collection is available until the end of April, 2018.  You have the choice of 2 kits – one for scrapbooking and one for cards – OR you can purchase papers, complements, ribbon  and gems separately

Today I am sharing 3 cards and a layout created from the Sending Hugs Cardmaking Kit.

This is one of the 2 card designs featured in the kit.  You receive printed instructions with your kit that detail cutting, placement, stamping and embellishment information.  The kit has enough supplies to make 12 cards.

The Sending Hugs Cardmaking Kit (G1150) from Close To My Heart makes 12 cards with leftover supplies for some scrapbook pages. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au
The original design uses Heather ink for the wreath but I wanted to make it more colourful so I stamped in Sweetleaf ink.  Then I coloured the centres of each flower with the ocean watercolour pencil and blended it using the Clear Shimmer Brush.  I also added shimmer to the printed flowers and blooms on the background paper.  It is soooo pretty!  The next photos shows a bit of the sparkle.

Next up I swapped out the ink colours and used the Welcome Baby sentiment from the For You Darling stamp set.  I also used part of the border stamp that comes with the Sending Hugs kit to decorate the edges of the wreath element.

For the third variation, I made the card portrait and dropped the striped piece lower.  I used the border stamp to create my own design on the white cardstock and then used the small flower and leaves from the stamp set to create my own decorative element.

The leaves were coloured with Citrus Leaf watercolour pencil and the flowers were simply filled in using the NEW Bashful Shimmer Brush.  I used masking on my stamping and fussy cut the grouped images.

I decided to use this card design to make a layout too.  It was super easy – I just extended each piece to be 12″ long.

I wanted to pick up on the pink in the photographed flowers so I used the Bashful Shimmer Brush to colour the white flowers on the floral print.  The floral wreath provide space for a title.  Pen Pal Alphabet stamps are only 1/4″ high and worked perfectly for the small space.

Every layout needs journaling.  These photos were all from the same weekend but not all taken at the same time or event so I numbered the photos and bullet point journaled to give the information about them.  I wrote the wrong name for the hotel so just stuck a correction over the top of it – it’s not perfect but you really don’t notice it when looking at the full layout.

Best part- you can see lots of different projects you can create with Close To My Heart’s Basic Fundamentals collection! The Basics Fundamentals collection includes papers, two toned cardstock,  ribbons and inks.  It is the collection featured in this month’s Through the Year Calendar Bundle.

Today I am sharing a layout featuring photos of a video shown at the CTMH Annual Inspirations Launch this year. The video shared Jeanette Lynton’s story of building Close To My Heart from inception to the international company it is today.

I love to use black cardstock as a base with the grey toned papers in the Basic Fundamentals prints.  Black provides a strong contrast.  A little pop of Willow brought the layout to life.  Those strips are just 1/8″ wide.  Cutting them with our new Aluminium Rail Trimmer was a breeze.

The layout just had to have hearts on it somewhere and the Heart Border Thin Cuts were perfect for the job.  The solid hearts are cut separately to the frames so you can layer them as I have here.

The Ribbon Border Thin Cut offered another opportunity for a pop of Willow green cardstock to be added.  It is a delicate embellishment that stands out nicely on the neutral tones of Basic Fundamentals.

I finished the layout off with two stamps from the We Are Makers set. This stamp set sums up all we do as paper crafters. I have used it on several layouts. The Brene Brown quote is closely aligned with Jeanette’s mission for our company.

How cute is this little Gingerbread banner? One of my sister consultants, Laura Beachum, gifted a kit to me at a recent retreat and I loved it so much I just have to share with all of you.

Oh Snap! (D1743) is a super cute stamp set from CTMH. Available until Dec 31, 2017. Snap yours up at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

The banner can be made using all Close To My Heart stamps and Thin Cuts. A full list of all items used appears at the end of this post.

Here’s how:

  • Cut 16 gingerbread people from the light side of Almond Cardstock
  • Cut 14 2″ banners from the dark side of Toffee Cardstock using the Basic Banners Thin Cuts
  • Cut the letters for Merry Christmas from Red Glitter Paper using the Block Alphabet Thin Cuts (NB This is a different font to the one Laura cut on her Cricut for my banner)
  • Stamp and decorate your gingerbread people using Toffee, Cranberry and Espresso inks
  • Layer letters on banner shapes
  • Punch small holes in gingerbread hands and top corners of banner shapes.
  • Thread all shapes onto 6 feet of twine. Begin and end each word with a gingerbread person.

S1711 Through The Year CTMH Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop

Welcome to the November, 2017 Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop.  This is a circular hop.  If you arrived from Tanya’s blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and hopping until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Through the Year (S1711) stamp set which is November’s Stamp of the Month.

S1711

This is a must have stamp set for a few reasons:

  1. There is a VERY cool calendar kit coming next month which uses it and you will kick yourself if you have to pay full price for the stamps in December.
  2. Having the months of the year in a fun font makes it easy to add information to pages to help remember when the photos were taken.
  3. The small illustrations are super cute.  You can add them to journaling, titles, borders and cards.

My first project today is a scrapbook layout using Cats & Bats papers.  The emerald dots paper is just divine!  We were travelling through Carnarvon in Western Australia and came across these gorgeous knitted tree scarves.  I love handcrafts being exhibited anywhere but in the street is so fabulous because everyone can enjoy it.

Create whimsical decorations for your pages using S1711 Through the Year stamps by Close To My Heart. www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Once the papers were down I used the small leaf from the stamp set to create the top border.  Mount it on a 1″ block and align the LH edge of the block with the inch marks on a ruler to make the spacing even.  I also used the horizontal line engraved on Close To My Heart Blocks to line up with the top of the spotted zip strip.  This helped keep my line of leaves level. (That’s a tongue twister of a sentence for sure!)

S1711 Through the Year CTMH stamp of the month available Nov 2017 www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Creating a tab with the month stamped on it is easy.  All you need is a scrap of paper and your corner rounder.

S1711 Through the Year CTMH stamp of the month available Nov 2017 www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

A flurry of circles sweeps across the layout.  These were cut with the Basic Circle Thin cuts and scraps of paper.  I used silver foil paper but it looks gold in this photo.  Stamp a few icons on the circles and add some colourful dots for fun.

S1711 Through the Year CTMH stamp of the month available Nov 2017 www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

My second project is to help you organise your printed photos.  Photos for the year I am scrapbooking are stored in a medium organiser (pull out one of the dividers) and I had all sorts of odd shaped scraps as dividers.  Now I have a professional looking system to separate the months and then divide the photos in bundles for layouts.

S1711 Through the Year CTMH stamp of the month available Nov 2017 www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

The month dividers are cut 6″ x 4 1/2″ with top two corners rounded.  I offset the stamping of the months to make them easier to see once they were in the organiser.  The numbers are cut 3″ x 4 1/2″ and could be used for the days of the month if you had an extremely busy month of photo taking.  I use mine to separate groups of photos for layouts.  This way I can easily pull out the next bundle and be scrapping quickly.

Finally, here’s a look at how gorgeous the stamps are on a calendar.  I love those little icons that I can match to my events.  I’m being optimistic that we will have a couple of days sunshine in Melbourne!!!

S1711 Through the Year CTMH stamp of the month available Nov 2017 www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Your consultant will be sharing a fabulous calendar project with you for December- you are going to love it.

Through the Year (S1711) is only available to purchase for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order during November, 2017.  Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant.

Can you see yourself trying one of these projects?  I’d love you to leave a comment for me before you click on the underlined link and move on to Doreen’s Blog, Scrapping and More with Doreen, to see what she has designed for you.

Welcome to the October, 2017 Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop.  This is a circular hop.  If you arrived from Maz’s blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and hopping until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Christmas Tunes(S1710) stamp set which is October’s Stamp of the Month.CTMH Stamp of the Month Christmas Tunes (S1710) is availalbe during October, 2017 at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

Like so many of you, I am a Christmas tragic.  I pin ideas for decorations and projects all year, I have made my own Christmas cards for decades and my collection of ornaments grow every year – I even bring them home from overseas travel!  A long held tradition in our family is watching the Melbourne Carols by Candlelight each Christmas Eve – mostly on TV but a few times we’ve been there in person.  This stamp set immediately puts me in that place – surrounded by smiling faces, candles glowing and amazing performers.

My offering today is inspiration for Christmas cards you can make in October so you are super organised 😊 I know we all have different amounts of crafting time and some of us like a clean and classic look while others like lots of bling – a bit like the frocks the performers wear at the Carols!

I have taken a classic card design for each stamp and made it twice – the first is quick and easy to make and the second is a little fancier.  You can choose the one that suits your style and available time the best.  Or you could give the fancy ones to friends who will appreciate your hard work and the simpler ones to those who may not. 😊

First up we have ‘O Holy Night’.  Cranberry & New England Ivy inks team nicely with the Beary Christmas paper.

Quick and easy version – stamp all 3 components on the same piece of cardstock.  Trim an even-ish curve around the wreath.

Fancy Version – Stamp each component separately and fussy cut to highlight all the details.  Pop elements up on foam tape.  Add Gold Shimmer Pen to bow and holly leaves.  Add Red Gems.  The extra layer of White Daisy cardstock helps the image pop.

Christmas Tunes Stamp of the Month for October 2017 - such a fun set to own. Plain or fancy? Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Next we have ‘White Christmas’.  Raspberry ink & cardstock create a fun contrast to  the Silver and Gold paper pack.

Quick and easy version – stamp image in Raspberry ink and add colour with Shin Han markers.

Fancy Version – Trim the background layer in to 3 pieces and use ribbon in place of cardstock for the horizontal strip.  Fussy cut the stamped image, add White & Gold Twine and use foam dots to pop it up.   Add Bashful Pearls to the image.Christmas Tunes Stamp of the Month for October 2017 - such a fun set to own. Plain or fancy? Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Let’s look at ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ next.   Fern ink complements the Beary Christmas paper.

Quick and easy version – Colour stars with Shin Han marker.

Fancy Version – Add Beary Christmas red dots and Bitty Sparkles to some of the stars.  Place a Gold Glitter Gem in the star at the top of the tree.  The extra layer of Cranberry cardstock helps the image and border to stand out.Christmas Tunes Stamp of the Month for October 2017 - such a fun set to own. Plain or fancy? Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Finally, Baby It’s Cold Outside.   Sapphire cardstock provides a strong contrast to the Gold & Silver Paper Pack.  Crystal Blue ink gives the look of a snow globe.

Quick and easy version – Add Clear Shimmer brush to the inside of the globe and to the base.  Sorry the photos doesn’t show this very well.

Fancy Version – Add in Silver Glitter paper – stamp the snow globe onto scrap paper to create a template for cutting the base segment.  Add Bitty Sparkles and Clear Sparkles inside the globe.Christmas Tunes Stamp of the Month for October 2017 - such a fun set to own. Plain or fancy? Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

What will you choose – classic or fancy cards?  Or will you try one of each?  I hope you enjoy creating them as much as I did

You will find a list of the products used on the layout at the end of this post.

Christmas Tunes(S1710) is only available during October, 2017.  Full retail price is $27 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order. Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant.

G1128 Prickly Pear Workshop Kit is available for purchase from www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

There are 3 co-ordinating stamp sets for this kit.  This month, you can buy 2 and get the third one FREE* (For stamps only, not available for Thin Cut & Stamp bundles.  Stamp of lesser value is the free one).  I have used stamps from all three sets in the layouts I’m sharing today.

CTMH Prickly Pear Collection - order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

Tangerine and Sorbet cardstock look so pretty with a Sea Glass base.  The glitter strip is also Sea Glass.  The solid Oval Thin Cuts add a little interest to the border.

CTMH Prickly Pear Collection - order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

The second layout used up scraps of paper, cardstock and embellishments.  The block design could also work on the outer edges of the layout but I liked the focal point it created in the centre.  The starburst border stamp worked well again along with the burlap ribbon and sequins to add some texture to the design.
CTMH Prickly Pear Collection - order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au
Each piece of the central pattern is 2″ wide.  Each vertical strip contains 2 pieces 2″ high and 2 pieces 3″ high.  The last piece is trimmed to fit the space left.  The emerald pieces will be for journaling.  I liked the idea of using “Date” and “Place” as headings for journaling when they would traditionally form part of an invitation.  The cactus was cut from printed paper but you could stamp them if you’ve used all of the print in your pack.

The foxes and flowers are petite so you can fit a few on a card or page border.  They all look great coloured with your favourite medium and the sentiments are fun.

The next card uses the Wood Slats embossing folder.  Once it is embossed, simply run the Desert Sands ink pad over the raised elements to create contrast.  Move the inkpad in the direction of the lines with a light touch for best results. The frolicking foxes were hand cut.  The wood panel paper is also from the No Worries paper pack.
