Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and hopping until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Christmas Tunes(S1710) stamp set which is October’s Stamp of the Month.CTMH Stamp of the Month Christmas Tunes (S1710) is availalbe during October, 2017 at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

Like so many of you, I am a Christmas tragic.  I pin ideas for decorations and projects all year, I have made my own Christmas cards for decades and my collection of ornaments grow every year – I even bring them home from overseas travel!  A long held tradition in our family is watching the Melbourne Carols by Candlelight each Christmas Eve – mostly on TV but a few times we’ve been there in person.  This stamp set immediately puts me in that place – surrounded by smiling faces, candles glowing and amazing performers.

My offering today is inspiration for Christmas cards you can make in October so you are super organised 😊 I know we all have different amounts of crafting time and some of us like a clean and classic look while others like lots of bling – a bit like the frocks the performers wear at the Carols!

I have taken a classic card design for each stamp and made it twice – the first is quick and easy to make and the second is a little fancier.  You can choose the one that suits your style and available time the best.  Or you could give the fancy ones to friends who will appreciate your hard work and the simpler ones to those who may not. 😊

First up we have ‘O Holy Night’.  Cranberry & New England Ivy inks team nicely with the Beary Christmas paper.

Quick and easy version – stamp all 3 components on the same piece of cardstock.  Trim an even-ish curve around the wreath.

Fancy Version – Stamp each component separately and fussy cut to highlight all the details.  Pop elements up on foam tape.  Add Gold Shimmer Pen to bow and holly leaves.  Add Red Gems.  The extra layer of White Daisy cardstock helps the image pop.

Next we have ‘White Christmas’.  Raspberry ink & cardstock create a fun contrast to  the Silver and Gold paper pack.

Quick and easy version – stamp image in Raspberry ink and add colour with Shin Han markers.

Fancy Version – Trim the background layer in to 3 pieces and use ribbon in place of cardstock for the horizontal strip.  Fussy cut the stamped image, add White & Gold Twine and use foam dots to pop it up.   Add Bashful Pearls to the image.Christmas Tunes Stamp of the Month for October 2017 - such a fun set to own. Plain or fancy? Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Let’s look at ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ next.   Fern ink complements the Beary Christmas paper.

Quick and easy version – Colour stars with Shin Han marker.

Fancy Version – Add Beary Christmas red dots and Bitty Sparkles to some of the stars.  Place a Gold Glitter Gem in the star at the top of the tree.  The extra layer of Cranberry cardstock helps the image and border to stand out.Christmas Tunes Stamp of the Month for October 2017 - such a fun set to own. Plain or fancy? Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Finally, Baby It’s Cold Outside.   Sapphire cardstock provides a strong contrast to the Gold & Silver Paper Pack.  Crystal Blue ink gives the look of a snow globe.

Quick and easy version – Add Clear Shimmer brush to the inside of the globe and to the base.  Sorry the photos doesn’t show this very well.

Fancy Version – Add in Silver Glitter paper – stamp the snow globe onto scrap paper to create a template for cutting the base segment.  Add Bitty Sparkles and Clear Sparkles inside the globe.Christmas Tunes Stamp of the Month for October 2017 - such a fun set to own. Plain or fancy? Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

What will you choose – classic or fancy cards?  Or will you try one of each?  I hope you enjoy creating them as much as I did

You will find a list of the products used on the layout at the end of this post.

Christmas Tunes(S1710) is only available during October, 2017.  Full retail price is $27 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order. Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant.

Welcome to the CTMH Australasian Prickly Pear Blog Hop.  This hop features some amazing and talented women from across Australia.

If you arrived from  Vandra’s Blog  you are in the right place.  If this is your first time on a blog hop simply read on, enjoy my creations and maybe share some love in the comments. Then you click on the link at the end of this post and it will take you to the next blog and so on and so on. Easy and fun! Best part- you can see lots of different projects you can create with Close To My Heart’s Prickly Pear collection!   When you land back here, you are done and it’s time to hit the scrapbook room for some crafting fun.

G1128 Prickly Pear Workshop Kit is available for purchase from www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

There are 3 co-ordinating stamp sets for this kit.  This month, you can buy 2 and get the third one FREE* (For stamps only, not available for Thin Cut & Stamp bundles.  Stamp of lesser value is the free one).  I have used stamps from all three sets in the layouts I’m sharing today.

Tangerine and Sorbet cardstock look so pretty with a Sea Glass base.  The glitter strip is also Sea Glass.  The solid Oval Thin Cuts add a little interest to the border.

CTMH Prickly Pear Collection - order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

The second layout used up scraps of paper, cardstock and embellishments.  The block design could also work on the outer edges of the layout but I liked the focal point it created in the centre.  The starburst border stamp worked well again along with the burlap ribbon and sequins to add some texture to the design.
CTMH Prickly Pear Collection - order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au
Each piece of the central pattern is 2″ wide.  Each vertical strip contains 2 pieces 2″ high and 2 pieces 3″ high.  The last piece is trimmed to fit the space left.  The emerald pieces will be for journaling.  I liked the idea of using “Date” and “Place” as headings for journaling when they would traditionally form part of an invitation.  The cactus was cut from printed paper but you could stamp them if you’ve used all of the print in your pack.

The Prickly Pear Collection  is available to purchase from your Close To My Heart consultant.  A list of products used in my projects appears at the end of this post.  Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant. If you don’t have a consultant, you can order online through my website .

The foxes and flowers are petite so you can fit a few on a card or page border.  They all look great coloured with your favourite medium and the sentiments are fun.

The next card uses the Wood Slats embossing folder.  Once it is embossed, simply run the Desert Sands ink pad over the raised elements to create contrast.  Move the inkpad in the direction of the lines with a light touch for best results. The frolicking foxes were hand cut.  The wood panel paper is also from the No Worries paper pack.

Little Dreamer collection from Close To My Heart http://shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=9932&ci=8409

The Little Dreamer collection is available until the end of August 2017.  Buy it as a full kit or individual items.

When you purchase the Little Dreamer WYW Kit, you can download instructions to make 3 layouts and 6 cards (2 each of 3 designs).  You do have paper and embellishments left over.  Today I’ll share how I use the left overs along with one each of the card fronts to make 3 more layouts!  All I then had left were a few small paper scraps and stickers that I will give to a crafty little girl I know.  I have nothing to store – the whole kit is gone.  That means I can buy another collection – guilt free!!!!

These are the layouts and cards we have instructions for:

CTMH Little Dreamer Workshop Your Way layouts http://shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=9932&ci=84091705-se-little-dreamer-wyw-layout-021705-se-little-dreamer-wyw-layout-01CTMH Little Dreamer Collection http://shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=9932&ci=8409

Place layouts in this order and work on the backs of the papers.  If you look at my layouts below, the left and right pages have different background papers.  Use plain cardstock in Thistle, Glacier, Lagoon and Daisy White to blend the colours of the designs.

CTMH Little Dreamer Collection http://shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=9932&ci=8409

Can you spot the card front? It is layered on two of the Cut Apart PML cards that come in the pack.  Glacier Cardstock provides the mat for the enlargement.

Little Dreamer Bonus Pages - 2

The lagoon cardstock strip has been embossed with the Confetti Stars folder.  Feed the strip into the folder from both ends to create the design with more stars on the outer edges.

Little Dreamer Bonus Pages - 3

As this is the final layout, you will need a full sheet of Glacier cardstock for the base of the RH page.  Don’t the card fronts work beautifully as page embellishments?

Now, if you are wondering why there are no photos on these layouts… it’s because, after 15 years of furious scrapbooking, I have run out of photos!!!!  So, if you are one of my friends, send me some snaps to use and I will gift the pages to you when I’m finished teaching them 🙂

Dreamin Big WYW Kit

The Dreamin’ Big collection is  from the Seasonal Expressions Jan-Apr 2017 Catalogue.  Once you begin creating with this collection you will never want to stop!  The colours just seem to go with everything you have in your photos.

Today I’ve used Dreamin’ Big on a layout featuring a great sporting moment in my life.  If you know me well, you know I can’t throw and catch, I don’t like to get sweaty and watching sport just bores me senseless BUT I do like to be a bit silly and I love my family more than anything .  So, here we are playing mini golf on a ship!  It was girls versus boys and the girls won.  Imagine everyone’s surprise when it was discovered I was the overall winner!!!  This moment was definitely worth preserving in an album 🙂

Dreamin Big layout - Page 003

This layout was created using leftovers after completing the Workshop Your Way layouts.  Mounting the photos on Daisy White cardstock meant I only needed small pieces of the dotty paper above and below them.

Dreamin Big Layout detail - Page 001

To create the golf ball you will need the Confetti Embossing Folder (Z3118), Whisper Ink (Z2872) and the Basic Circle Thin Cuts (Z3318).  Dab the whisper ink pad over the raised dots inside the embossing folder BEFORE you place the paper in it.  When you run it through your embossing machine the ink will transfer to the paper and look like the dimples on a golf ball.  The Basic Circle Thin Cuts cut solid circles in a choice of 2 1/2″, 2″, 1 1/2″ or 1″.  They are on special this month along with all our other Thin Cuts – 25% off!

Dreamin Big Layout detail - Page 002

Dreamin Big Layout detail - Page 004You can create the illusion of a long horizontal strip running behind you photos and papers by cutting a PML card into small pieces.  In this layout I used the juniper diagonal stripe PML.  Zip strips with printed words make a nice accent for your layout too.

G1107 Florence WYW

Today’s layout uses the gorgeous Hearts Thin Cuts.  The hearts are not symmetrical so they have a whimsical feel to them.  The fact you get 3 sizes in the one set makes clustering easy.  Great for using small leftover pieces of paper too.

Florence bonus pages - Page 005

When you cut each Heart Thin Cut (Z3260) you actually get two pieces – a solid heart and a frame. This layout uses the small and medium heart. Simply mix up the frames so they contrasted with a solid heart.  You can experiment with different layering effects of solids and frames.  It’s lots of fun.

Thin cuts - Page 003

The Love Thin Cut (Z3257) was perfect to complete the page.  Cut once from print paper and once from black cardstock and offset to give a shadow effect.

Thin cuts - Page 002

The small prints and soft colours of the Florence collection pair perfectly with Heart Thin Cuts.  Have a play – no two layouts will look the same.

I am so in love with Thin Cuts dies and their matching stamp sets.  No more fussy cutting with these stamps!  Because the dies save time I find I am using the stamps more.

Thin Cuts

Thin Cuts

This layout was inspired by pp104-105 of the Cherish How To Book.  It’s a layout we were challenged to use in a team virtual crop this month.  The small squares were the perfect place to showcase the Carnival Fun stamps and Thin Cuts.

Carnival Fun C1648

Carnival Fun Thin Cuts Z3229

Thin Cuts are an awesome addition to your tools collection.    You can stamp first and then use the dies in your Cuttlebug or Big Shot machine to cut around them or cut the shapes first and then stamp.  I prefer the second method.  The stamps are super easy to match up with the cuts.
