The ‘Tis the Season collection is available until the end of December 2018. Buy it as a full kit or purchase individual items.I have loved using this paper pack for my Christmas photos of last year but today’s layout has nothing to do with Christmas.

I’ve used 2 packs of this paper. I pulled out my left overs to see what I could use on this hop. I had lots of the paper with Charcoal on one side and Candy Apple on the other and a bit of the fern leaves print. Mmm, what to do???
I called on my new best friend!

The Love of Colour Book is an invaluable resource we all need to own. It shows colour combinations that work together! I flipped to the Charcoal page and saw that Charcoal, Candy Apple, Fern, Sapphire and Carolina were suggested as a good combo. Brilliant! 3 of those colours were already in the papers I had selected. All I had to add was the two blues.

Tis The Season Blog layout

This layout is based on the Now You See It layout in the Magic How To book (p22). It worked perfectly for the panorama shots we had taken. I had printed them on 4×6 paper so they were all the same width but different heights.  It was easy to fit several in a line on the right hand side of the layout.

Tis The Season Blog layout detail

I loved the title design in the ideas book and re-created it with Block Alphabet Thin Cuts and a free hand drawn and cut  flourish. At first I just had Sapphire letters but when I added the Candy Apple print behind them, they really popped – especially when I used foam dots!!

The moral of this story is to look past the obvious theme of a set of papers and discover how adaptable they can be.

The Grateful Heart collection is available until the end of December 2018. Buy it as a full kit or purchase individual items.
Today’s layout was is based on one taught to consultant’s at our National Album Retreat last month. We made the original layouts with Boutique but I am loving re-creating them in the Grateful Heart papers.

The Grateful Heart collection is availalbe topurchase from www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au until the end of December 2018
The paper part of this layout is very basic. One full sheet split across the two pages with 3 strips added. The full sheet of paper provides a place for photos to stand out. What makes the rest of the layout so eye catching are the two embellished clusters on opposite diagonals.

The Grateful Heart collection is availalbe topurchase from www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au until the end of December 2018
The first cluster uses a circle as an anchor point. This shape is cut with the largest circle in the Shaker cards Thin Cuts. October’s Stamp of the Month (S1810) and the Watercolour Impressions stamp (D1797) anchor it to the page. That lovely heart is also from the SOTM. Cut an arrow and draw inside it with a journal pen. The floral cluster is cut from one of the papers in the pack and popped up on foam dots.

The Grateful Heart collection is availalbe topurchase from www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au until the end of December 2018

Two flags form the base for the title cluster. Don’t you love the big, bold letters from the Solid Classroom Alphabet (E1043)? They worked nicely in partnership with the Simply Said Alphabet (C1725). I separated strands of Pomegranate Burlap Ribbon (retired) to curl behind the flowers and added Grateful Heart Cork Shapes for a little texture.  The little flowers I’ve used for bullet points in the journaling come from the SOTM too! So many lovely elements on this one stamp set.

The Hello Pumpkin Workshop Your Way kit (G1160) is available to purchase between Sept and Dec, 2018 from www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

The Hello Pumpkin collection is available until the end of December 2018. Buy it as a full kit or purchase individual items.

Today I’d like to show you an unhalloween layout.  As soon as I saw Close To My Heart’s newest shade of orange, called Nectarine, I knew it would be perfect for photos of Western Australia’s far north landscapes.  We spent 4 nights at Karijini National Park walking the gorges last year.  Spinifex Pigeons are my favourite little birds.  They are so fun to watch walking and interacting.  Look closely at the photos on the left hand page – the birds are in both of them – well camouflaged.

The Hello Pumpkin Workshop Your Way kit (G1160) is available to purchase between Sept and Dec, 2018 from www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

This layout is based on one from the Hello Pumpkin Workshop Your Way kit.  I simply swapped around the papers I used and ‘dressed up’ the striped paper.  Here is the original version.

The Hello Pumpkin Workshop Your Way kit (G1160) is available to purchase between Sept and Dec, 2018 from www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

I introduce Sage as a focal colour on this layout.  It goes so well with the grey greens of Australian foliage.   The nectarine and black striped paper was too bold for my photos so I softened it by covering the nectarine with strips of sage cardstock.  The dark side is up on narrow strips and light side on wider strips.  This didn’t take very long and was worth the effort.

The Hello Pumpkin Workshop Your Way kit (G1160) is available to purchase between Sept and Dec, 2018 from www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

The notebook border thin cut is so much fun to use and softened the edge of the page.  The new Brushed Letters Alphabet Stamps are my favourites in the current catalogue.  They are big and bold but narrow enough that long titles fit into smaller spaces.  Because the are designed to look like paintbrush strokes, they are also very forgiving if you don’t get your inking 100% right!

The Hello Pumpkin Workshop Your Way kit (G1160) is available to purchase between Sept and Dec, 2018 from www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au
A couple of clusters made with the Hello Pumpkin Complements completed the layout.

The Boutique collection is available until the end of December 2018. Buy it as a full kit or purchase individual items.  Today I am sharing a layout and a card. The layout was made using the leftovers after completing the 3 layouts from the Standard Workshop Your Way.

Boutique blog.jpg

It’s a super simple layout! I took all the full 12” strips I had, divided them into 2 unequal widths and stuck them to the edges of the pages. The triangular zip strip was needed for a bit of interest.  Base pages are Linen cardstock

Next up was photo mats – the majority of these are cut apart PML cards. They are either 3×4 or 4×6 so I just trimmed my photos a little and I was in business.

The multicoloured striped journal box is also a PML card. It was a fun way to add interest without effort. The puffy stickers that come in the workshop kit are so fun to use.

Lastly, I stamped the titled using the new Brushed Letters Alphabet Set. I love that they are tall and narrow so you can fit a longer word into a small space.

Boutique Blog Hop detail - Page 077

This card was lots of fun to create. I mixed Boutique prints with Mint, Peacock and Sugarplum cardstock. The tag was created using the Fancy Tags Thin Cuts – a MUST HAVE in your kit for sure. The stamp set is from the More Magical collection which is only available until the end of this month. I heat embossed the images with white powder. And those little dots on the right-hand side? That’s texture paste applied through a stencil. I’m having such fun learning how to use this new product.

S1809 Just Treats CTMH Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome to September’s Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop. This is a circular hop. If you arrived from Maz’s blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it. Keep reading and ‘hopping’ until you find yourself back where you started from. Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Just Treats (S1809) stamp set which is September’s Stamp of the Month.

S1809 Just Treats SOTM is available for purchase during September 2018 from www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

You are going to love this set for your Christmas crafting but I wanted to think outside the box a bit this month and used 3 textural stamps to make my title for this 4th of July layout.

S1809 Just Treats SOTM and More Magical are available for purchase during September 2018 from www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au
This layout comes from the More Magical Kit available until the end of September. The paper pack may look familiar. It features the same patterns as one we had a while ago but the red and blues have been updated to our newest colours – Bluebird, Carolina and Candy Apple. I quite liked the original pack but these new colours are so much more vibrant and I am delighted with the layouts I’ve made.

S1809 Just Treats SOTM is available for purchase during September 2018 from www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au

The title letters were cut from White Daisy cardstock using Block Alphabet Thin Cuts. Then I stamped over them using Candy Apple ink and the striped strip stamp. The ‘th’ came from one of June’s Solo number stamps.

The title looked a bit lonely so I stamped the cluster of dots repeatedly using White Daisy pigment ink and then added a few pinwheels in Candy Apple to complete the design.

Super easy and non-christmassy. What do you think? Take a close look at the images on this set and think outside the box. Coffee cups for cappuccinos with the girls, leaves and berries for park photos, lollies for parties and lots for Christmas and Halloween.

Just Treats (S1809) is only available during September, 2018. Full retail price is $29.50 but you can have this gorgeous set for just $8.25 when accompanied by a $75 order. Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant.

Today’s layout is inspired by Pinterest. This design lets my photos stand out. The forests in Alaska are amazing and photos can’t capture the feeling of being in one but lining all my images in a row helps make the ‘largeness’ imaginable.

The Fresh Air Workshop Kit (G1152) is a perfect fit for my photos of Alaska. Order yours at www.shaunnarichards.closetomyheart.com.au
Decorating the banners under each photo was lots of fun.  PML Cut Apart sheet left overs from making up the Workshop Your Way layouts were a great source for different patterned papers, the journal boxes and the pine cone images. The Fresh Air card making stamps and thin cuts set was perfect for these photos too.  Doesn’t the Gold heat embossing look great on Nutmeg cardstock?  Be warned, you need to control your urge to keep adding bits to the banners as that will detracted from the photos.

I do need to finish the journaling – I can’t remember what made the mound under the tree in the last photo and hubby is on a long haul flight so I can’t ask him!!

S1711 Through The Year CTMH Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop

Welcome to the November, 2017 Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop.  This is a circular hop.  If you arrived from Tanya’s blog, you are in the right place. Simply read through this post and click on the link to the next blog at the end of it.  Keep reading and hopping until you find yourself back where you started from.  Each blog will showcase a project featuring the Through the Year (S1711) stamp set which is November’s Stamp of the Month.

S1711

This is a must have stamp set for a few reasons:

  1. There is a VERY cool calendar kit coming next month which uses it and you will kick yourself if you have to pay full price for the stamps in December.
  2. Having the months of the year in a fun font makes it easy to add information to pages to help remember when the photos were taken.
  3. The small illustrations are super cute.  You can add them to journaling, titles, borders and cards.

My first project today is a scrapbook layout using Cats & Bats papers.  The emerald dots paper is just divine!  We were travelling through Carnarvon in Western Australia and came across these gorgeous knitted tree scarves.  I love handcrafts being exhibited anywhere but in the street is so fabulous because everyone can enjoy it.

Create whimsical decorations for your pages using S1711 Through the Year stamps by Close To My Heart. www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Once the papers were down I used the small leaf from the stamp set to create the top border.  Mount it on a 1″ block and align the LH edge of the block with the inch marks on a ruler to make the spacing even.  I also used the horizontal line engraved on Close To My Heart Blocks to line up with the top of the spotted zip strip.  This helped keep my line of leaves level. (That’s a tongue twister of a sentence for sure!)

S1711 Through the Year CTMH stamp of the month available Nov 2017 www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Creating a tab with the month stamped on it is easy.  All you need is a scrap of paper and your corner rounder.

S1711 Through the Year CTMH stamp of the month available Nov 2017 www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

A flurry of circles sweeps across the layout.  These were cut with the Basic Circle Thin cuts and scraps of paper.  I used silver foil paper but it looks gold in this photo.  Stamp a few icons on the circles and add some colourful dots for fun.

S1711 Through the Year CTMH stamp of the month available Nov 2017 www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

My second project is to help you organise your printed photos.  Photos for the year I am scrapbooking are stored in a medium organiser (pull out one of the dividers) and I had all sorts of odd shaped scraps as dividers.  Now I have a professional looking system to separate the months and then divide the photos in bundles for layouts.

S1711 Through the Year CTMH stamp of the month available Nov 2017 www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

The month dividers are cut 6″ x 4 1/2″ with top two corners rounded.  I offset the stamping of the months to make them easier to see once they were in the organiser.  The numbers are cut 3″ x 4 1/2″ and could be used for the days of the month if you had an extremely busy month of photo taking.  I use mine to separate groups of photos for layouts.  This way I can easily pull out the next bundle and be scrapping quickly.

Finally, here’s a look at how gorgeous the stamps are on a calendar.  I love those little icons that I can match to my events.  I’m being optimistic that we will have a couple of days sunshine in Melbourne!!!

S1711 Through the Year CTMH stamp of the month available Nov 2017 www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com.au

Your consultant will be sharing a fabulous calendar project with you for December- you are going to love it.

Through the Year (S1711) is only available to purchase for just $7.50 when accompanied by a $75 order during November, 2017.  Place your order with your Close To My Heart Consultant.

Can you see yourself trying one of these projects?  I’d love you to leave a comment for me before you click on the underlined link and move on to Doreen’s Blog, Scrapping and More with Doreen, to see what she has designed for you.
