Sangria – The back story to a photo

Standard

As always with old photos, there is a back story not immediately obvious on first viewing of the photo.  When I found the photo on the left hand page I just thought it was a happy family snap of mum’s relatives and then I realised the significance of it.  This was the last photo taken before mum embarked on a full day’s journey to join dad in New Guinea.  She must have been filled with mixed emotions leaving Melbourne for the first time to go to some wild place!

She really was the adventurous one in her family and often lived the addage, “Face your fear and do it anyway”.

Sept 2 pages - Page 009

This layout was made using the Sangria Workshop on the Go (G1097).  The stamp set that comes in this kit is pretty gorgeous.  Almost every stamp on the sheet gets used in this layout!  Full cutting guides and instructions are included in the kit.

Here’s the card I made with the scraps.

Sept cards - Page 008The Sangria Workshop on the Go is just $44 and is valued at $63.50.  You receive full colour instructions for 2 layouts and there is enough paper in the pack to make 4-8 pages PLUS 4-8 cards from the scraps AND you get to keep the stamp set forever.  It is great value for money.

Sangria is our featured collection throughout October.  That means we will be created with it in my workshops. You can also see lots of layouts, cards and paper crafting on social media.  I’ll feature several projects here throughout the month and you can view lots of great ideas on the official Close To My Heart Blog, Facebook page and Instagram, @ctmhofficial . Best Day – Zoe Workshop on the Go

Standard

I love this layout from the Zoe Workshop on the Go.  It provides a big canvas for photo placement.  The layout comes from the Magic How To Book (9040).  It’s called One Way Mirror.

These photos were taken when we were in Hawaii for the Close To My Heart Incentive Trip.  80 of us took a sunset cruise and got to watch the lights come on in Waikiki.  Everything had a lovely pink glow.  When we looked out the other side of the boat, the sun was putting on a show for us.

Sept 2 pages - Page 001The original layout has just one photo on the left hand side but it is super easy to adapt to hold more.  I also shifted the placement of the title box on the right hand page so I could squeeze an extra photo in.

I liked this layout so much I made it into a card too!

Zoe Papers and assortments make this a quick card to put together.

Using your scraps and the assortments you can whip up this card in no time.  I haven’t added a sentiment yet because I’m not sure who will be receiving this one!

The Zoe Workshop on the Go is just $44 and is valued at $63.  There is enough paper in the pack to make 4-8 pages PLUS 4-8 cards from the scraps AND you get to keep the stamp set forever.  That’s a bargain!

The Zoe paper collection's soft colours let your photos 'do the talking'

The Zoe paper collection’s soft colours let your photos ‘do the talking’

This page is based on the Parlor Trick layout in the Magic How To Book (9040).  Don’t you love the way 7 photos fit and the page is not overcrowded?

The centre panel was made using 2″ circles.  Place each circle on your score board and score at 3/8″ and 1 5/8″.  It’s a fun way to see both sides of this lovely paper.

The page is finished off with some of my favourite flower stamps – Wavy Blooms (D1651) which were coloured with water colour pencils (3505) because I wanted soft colours to go with the Zoe papers.

The NEW Coral Shimmer Trim (Z3088) and Green Enamel & Glitter Duos (Z3123) added the finishing touches.

The Zoe collection is available from your CTMH consultant.  Be sure to check the CTMH official Facebook Page & Instagram for some great ideas too.

Hanging Photos Scrapbook Layout

Standard

A few weeks ago I participated in a Facebook Virtual Crop.  It was lots of fun ‘cropping’ with consultants all over Australia via the internet.  During the course of the weekend we were given page challenges to complete.  The lovely ladies who organised the event have given permission for me to share these challenges with you!  Big thanks to Bernadette Lewin, Karen Page and Lynda Yeadon.  Here is the sketch we worked from, “Hanging Photos”…

Virtual Crop May 2015 Challenge 1

And this is my page. I didn’t add the hangers but I think I will go back and do that.

I Confetti Wishes is a fun collection to team with the Smokey Plum cardstock.  I loved this layout because it uses the zip strips up.  The frames are cut using the Artbooking Cartridge.

How will you interpret this sketch?  Have some fun with it.

Order your supplies* at www.shaunnarichards.ctmh.com .  Every 5th online order this month will receive a gift from me.  I’ll email the winners at the end of the month.

Word of the Day Travel Bug Challenge

Standard

Travel Bug Challenge 2015Are you up for a challenge?

Beginning today, I will post a Word of the Day on my Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/PassionateAboutPages

Your challenge is to use that word as the inspiration for a page or a card.  You can make a literal interpretation or be a bit creative!

For instance, if the word was ‘Dog’ you may include photos of your dog, a stamp of a dog, use a doggy pun in your title or put photos of Yoga on the page!  (Downward dog is everyone’s favourite pose)

8x4 Blog double page photos - Page 004

Now I’ve given those great ideas, I’ll let you know Dog isn’t one of the words.  Each word relates to travel in some way but your pages and cards don’t have to be in a travel theme.  I’m keen to see where you take this.

Once you have completed a challenge, take a photo of it and add it to the comments under that word on my Facebook Page, https://www.facebook.com/PassionateAboutPages  .  It’s Ok if it takes you a few days to get it done.  On Saturday July 11, 18,  25 and August 1, every person who has posted a photo during the preceding week will go in the draw for a shopping voucher in my shop!  One entry for each photo you put up.
