Chantilly Blog Hop
The Chantilly collection holds a special place in my heart. It is the one I used first when I joined Close To My Heart 8 ½ years ago. I loved it then and I am so happy it has returned for a short while as a Bring Back My Pack special offer. I’ve made much better use of the stamps this time around! Practice pays off 😊
Welcome to the Chantilly blog hop. Today, my friend Dannii and I have some artwork to share with you. You may have arrived from Dannii’s blog, a link from my Facebook page or stumbled upon me by accident. Regardless of how you got here, you are welcome!
Simply read through this post then click the link to Dannii’s blog if you haven’t seen her post yet or head to the crafting table for some papery fun times if you have.
The Chantilly collection includes a paper pack, stickers, co-ordinating cardstock and 3 beautiful stamp sets. You can purchase items individually or as a discounted bundle. I've used this collection for spring time, puddle play, babies and zoo themed pages - it really is very adaptable. Team it with Sapphire cardstock if you want a more masculine look.
I have a double page Scrapbook layout and 2 cards to share with you today.
Scrapbook Layout
I wanted a very flowery page for some photos of a day at the Botanic gardens so I used several of the stamps from the Happy Thoughts and Chantilly Scrapbook Stamps. The patterned papers in this pack blend seamlessly. I've used 5 of the 6 prints on this one layout.
Create a cascade of flowers
Once I had the side panels stuck down I decide on the size and placement of my photo mounts but didn't glue them in place. I marked their position with a pencil, took them off the pages and then stamped the flowers you see peeking out from the mounts toward the centre of the layout;
Page title and captions
To balance the design I used stamps and a sticker for the title. The stamps show up well on the soft pink printed paper.
My final decorative element brought a small piece of the large print across the the LH page. This helps balance the big panel of this print on the RH page. The phrases are cut from one of the zip strips.
Cards
Blending shimmer trim and shimmer brush splatters with the papers and stamps was easy because Close To My Heart have fully co-ordinating colours of both.
Card 1 Stamp the flowers straight onto the card base for the first card. Draw a line 1" from the bottom to remind you to leave space for the paper. Spatter with Papaya and Mint Shimmer Brushes and then add the Papaya Shimmer trim. Overlap the paper so different widths of the shimmer tape show.
Card 2 This card begins with spatters in Mint and Papaya Shimmer Brush. Cover a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of white cardstock with spatters. Add Papaya Shimmer Trim, positioning it so only 1/8" shows either side of the printed paper. Stamp the flowers in Papaya ink and the leaves in second generation Green Apple ink. Use scrap paper to mas off the shimmer trim while stamping. Finish the card off with a fussy cut bird or substitute with the bird on the stamp set. Then mount on the light side of a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Green Apple Cardstock.
